Sport vs. Multi Function Steering Wheel

I like the look of the aluminum Sport Steering wheel and thinking about getting it instead of the multi function.
Has anyone swapped theirs out?
Time/labor at dealer to do it? I know you lose the phone and stereo functions on the wheel.
Any feedback on each one?
Thanks

Sport design is the way to go! I think it costs like $2000 for dealer to change it though as it uses a toggle switch like the wiper control arm to do the menu on the dash. I think the multifunction has a wheel or some such.

Doubt the Macan or Cayenne's wheel wiring will match up with a 991's wiring. Each 991's wiring harness is custom to that particular car. They do not cookie cutter the wiring in 991's

Might be able to find one in great condition at a "breaker" for less than half of the cost of a dealer. Can't be too hard to change.
The tough part of swapping wheels, from my experience, is deleting the airbag and integrating the right resistor to prevent the warning light from going off. That would't be an issue with an OEM to OEM swap... at least one would believe.
Might be the same airbag unit in both wheels meaning you would not have to purchase that portion. It would be good to check part numbers of that portion to confirm.

The dealer does appropriate programming too.

Supposedly they are not compatible from what I've heard.
Also thought of waiting until the 991.2 which will have that style wheel. Who knows about that compatibility though??

Good call. I got the sport and so happy I did. Every time I get behind it I'm like wow. People have commented on it, too. I can't imagine they would comment on the multifunction wheel.

I agree the Sport Design steering wheel is nicer looking and has a minimalist/cleaner look. But unless you are a track junkie or rarely leave the PDK in "auto" the multi-function has so many normal driving values. Heated steering wheel also only avail w MF. If car is a manual, the Sport Design is definitely the way to go. I do know they are interchangeable, but can be pricey. And the control stock (SD) will have no function. There is no "4th" stock on MF cars.
