I have read that it is not good to wash our cars with water frequently (for me would be weekly). I would like your solution to this issue and your experience.

Do you water wash or dry wash? How frequently? What products can be used without water? Will I scratch the paint finish?
Put a car cover on it after you wash it.

I don't believe a clean California duster can induce swirl marks.

In fact, I have not wet washed my 991 since I began using this.

When you are doing the dry wash, with the Quick Detailing products, what do you guys use for the windows? Water or glass cleaner with a good towel?

I've tried more glass cleaners than I can think of and this is the best. Period.

Amazon Amazon

This with a fresh, lint-free microfiber and you'll be happy.

I use a glass cleaner (either Adam's, SCG, or Pinnacle) and a dedicated glass microfiber towel. Clean, streak free every time!

Is that product compatible with paint protection film e.g. Xpel?

Sprayway from Costco. Works great, no ammonia. Used it for years inside and out; car windshields, outdoor furniture, countertops, etc. and - did I mention car windows? Inexpensive and effective. And using a "glass specific" microfiber towel does seem to make a difference. But than that might be the placebo effect - I'm not immune!

I have a black 991, it's a pain. When it's only dust/dirt I clean the wheels first, wash it with water only, dry it with very clean 100% cotton rags. Then cover it immediately with Porsche's indoor cover. Only wash it till it's ready to be stored again.

All this talk of not rubbing your paint....how pray tell does one then wax it....and almost every wax brand is a cleaning wax...meaning it contains polishing abrasive?

^^^^You just need to rub it the right way! LOL The waxes I use are NOT cleaner/waxes. They are straight 'nubas or a 'hybrid' containing both carnuba wax and some sort of sealant for extra longevity.

I will apply mine either by hand or by machine and will use the proper foam pad for the procedure.

(IMO: most swirls/scratches/etc are caused by improper wash technique, poor towel quality, or not enough 'lubrication' while wiping/washing/etc.)

Not mine. Illusion carnauba from Auto Finesse. And RejeX sealant wax.

I use Johnson's paste wax for floors. Yes!
High carnuba but requires quick buffing. But boy does it stick and last...made for floors you know.

How about this: instead of washing the car after you go for a drive, wash it before? Then it will be nice and clean for you to enjoy.

Excellent idea T
