Lol, this is not a bad comparison.

You've got to see the funny side of anything he says... He's an entertainer and as Chuck alludes... there are unwritten rules.

My story...

-he called the Audi TT a hairdressers car... I had one and laughed
-he compared the slk AMG 'vinyl' to the boxters 'CD' qualities and proceeded to 'acquire' an slk AMG.... I had one and got worried
-he upheld his opinion that the 911 was a 'lazy' design.... I had one and laughed
-he tweeted last week that he was having second thoughts about the 911... Now I'm really pis**d !

I watch TG for the humour... Not the accurate reporting.

This series sees a review of the BMW i8 and the AMG GT.... Is Porsche going to get off scott-free? No chance.... I'm just looking forward to the staged comedy before another week of 'real life'

Agreed Clarkson is entertaining and humor,s ,,top gear is all ways a good laugh .........but when it come to serious Automotive journalism I go else where eg Chris Harris , Richard Meaden etc.................
Clarkson is purely about being the showman and doing silly things we all wish we could do ............

Gawking is strictly forbidden. The punishment is severe.

I thought I'd be upset when Jeremy once said "People who buy non-S Carrera's are usually old fat men with delusions of grandeur"

But hell I had to agree he might be right.

I'm just finally glad I could join the club after 40 yrs of lusting.

Age 59 & counting...

You have to imagine that his opinion of the AMG will be his usual worship of that particular brand ... despite the fact the only good thing about them are the engines ... which are ALWAYS TOO BIG for the chassis.

There aren't a lot of 991 owner posts that come to mind, but the one that does is a 30-something guy who posted several times about his long road trips to mountain biking destinations. The one Clarkson quote he was definitely right about was when he said, just before crashing the 911 he was driving, "I am a fool."

Did someone say 'sponsorship'? Never... lol My experience of the AMG was that the engine was great... If a little rough at high revs (not unusual for V8 ) but I can't comment on the chassis because the tyres always gave up way before the chassis got a chance to show off! Wheel spin at 80mph anyone? I loved that car and it never let me down mechanically in 90000 miles & 9 years ... But I was never ever IN love with it.... and I have absolutely no affinity with the brand... The 911 on the other hand.... Don't even dare look at her... She's mine!

Agree with you.. Top gear is probably one of my favorite show's to watch for the entertainment value. But His opinions and tastes I find are almost opposite of mine. He seems to love mostly Merc's and Jags.

Hammond and May just sort of roll their eyes when he goes off on almost anything porsche..

Although he did seem to have a woodie about the new Caymen on a recent show because the engine was in the right place lol.
