I wouldn't be concerned with that as much as the service history or lack of. Is the car CPO?

Not at all. That would be a 2012.5

The 991 came out mid year. I have the 2012.5 C2S myself.

No more concerns than a 2013, 2014, etc..

I wish CPO, but no. It's from an independent dealer which makes me nervous. They claim the original owner purchased an extended 60 / 100 warranty. How can I verify this transfers with title?

Call the specific company that the insurance supposedly is with.

I'd post more details about the car. Price/miles/original sticker/options/asking price.

Who knows if it's even a good deal? There are a lot of recent posts on what is out there for decent "deals".

The warranty is one small piece of the story.

I think you need to have physically in your hands the actual extended warranty documents. Then you have to correctly interpret what the warranty language means. Interpretation of language is not science, but you can still get a fairly clear idea. Does the warranty transfer when the vehicle is sold (trade to dealer vs. private sale directly to next owner)? And, beyond calling the insurance/warranty company providing the policy, I would insist on a more than fairly clear document specifically stating transfer of coverage in the original policy to subsequent owners. And remember, these insurance/warranty companies are in business to make as much money as possible, which means take in as much as possible in premiums and pay out as little as possible in claims. I see nothing inherently wrong with this practice, as long as every party to the agreement understands clearly what is covered and what is not covered. Unfortunately, obfuscation is the operative word in the English Language for the level of clarity in most insurance policies. I personally believe the Porsche CPO warranty is the best clarity and comfort level that we can get on these very complex cars. I keep looking for words like "foolproof," "ironclad," "written in stone" etc., instead of "whereas," "heretofore," "above-referenced," and the like. At least with the CPO you are dealing with the original manufacturer of the vehicle.

Ordinarily third party warrantys require a transfer fee be paid by the purchaser. it should be spelled out in the warranty, if not call the company and ask.

I have a launch vehicle - love it! Mine had low miles when I bought it and two years left on the original warranty. I have had it for over seven months now and the only problem I have had was the heater (fixed under warranty). I did not get a CPO'ed car.

The miles on the one you are looking at seem a bit high, though - I would think you could find one in that price range with much fewer miles.

Make sure you get it inspected by a third party before you buy. Just a thought. I had mine inspected by a local Porsche dealer and it checked out fine.

It's overpriced and way too many miles!

There are numerous posts here with guys getting nice S's with under 20K miles from 75K to low/mid 80's with original stickers around 120K and more. Do some searches. I've given the same advice to others and they've found great cars.

Keep looking. Better to find a CPO too.
