I recently traded in my 08 997 turbo that I had driven for 32K miles for a 2014 991 turbo S. This is my third turbo & they just keep getting better. This latest is incredible in every respect easy to drive & very predictable drove it today to San Diego 150 mile round trip from my house got 28.8 mpg going & 26.5 coming back averaging 77 mph trying to get used to the car. Although I didn't buy it to pinch pennies on gas it just surprised me that a car with it's perf capabilities to get that mileage. The same trip my 997 would get 21.5. I tried launch control for the first time & the acceleration slammed me back in the seat & felt like some monster was unleashed . Before I knew it I was going fast enough to consider it a felony thinking to myself this isn't the way a 71 year old person is supposed to behave on blood pressure medication. Perhaps now I will no longer have any need for Viagra after this kind of stimulation. Thanks Porsche for curing my erectile dysfunction !

Ha! And there was someone just the other day saying he had to get a 911 before he was too old to enjoy it… at a little more than half your age! And a lot of these guys, they may be young but they come off as afraid of using launch control. Good for you!

Thanks I'm probably not your average mature senior & this isn't the fastest car i have ever owned.I had an auto repair business for many years & my specialty was building drag & fast street cars primarily Buick Grand Nationals. I'm still active in that visit my web site ( turbolou.com ) . What I also like about the Porsche is I can fit in it. Besides my 08 turbo I also owned a 2010 ZR1 being 6'6" tall it wasn't very comfortable hated the clutch & sold it. There was a car that badly needed all wheel drive & unless you were a professional driver could easily stack it up. The Porsche is much more refined safer car and would have to be doing something really stupid to lose control of it. Just a real fun car to drive & the PDK is flawless. I drove my friends 599 Ferrari with paddle shift & wasn't too impressed with it either.
