price check on 2012 991S Cab
I have an opportunity to buy a 2012 991S Cab from a friend who is moving on up to a 2015 GTS Cab in a few months when his 991S lease is up. He will sell it to me at the residual price, which is around $74k.
I own a 997.2S Cab and am not sure I want to make the move to the 991S, but putting that aside for a moment, I was hoping you guys could give me a sense of how good a price that is for this 991.
The car has full leather, PDK, Premium Package Plus w/18-way sport seats, Sport Exhaust, Burmester, park assist, sport steering wheel, painted wheels, and some other misc options. Sticker was $136k. It has around 11,000 miles on it and seems to be in great condition.
Thanks!

Are you sure its a 2012? I thought all 991 Cabs were 2013 or better - but I could be mistaken. If you go to the 991, you'll never regret it, the hard shell top alone is worth it. $74K for a loaded 991S Cab seems to be a very good price to me.

The fact that it's probably one of the first of the new model year also gives me a little bit of pause, but I haven't heard of any major glitches and of course it's still under warranty.

The 991's were introduced in 2012.5 technically and are 2012's. Both cabs and coupes.
If the car is to your liking and in great shape, for the MSRP/mileage it's a very good deal.

Yes. Do it. IF the actual residual is that LOW. I thought residuals were stronger.
Maybe you can run the transaction through your friend's dealership and have the car CPO'd. It would be worth the extra money IMO. $2-3k extra. If they play ball.

Thanks for all the feedback.
I'll look into trying to get it CPO'd or the warranty extended. I bought a Fidelity Platinum extended warranty on my 2010 and am thinking about that option again too.

The residual is plausible as I think this would have been a 3 year lease?
The residual will also depend on the miles, but if 5,000/year - on a 2 year lease taken out recently the residual would be around 66% or $90,000. So going to 55% with another year could make sense.
Of course - this is all on his lease paperwork anyway.
Hope you get the car - enjoy!

I haven't driven it yet, so I honestly don't know where I will come out on this, since the 2010 is a really great car too. I've read a lot about the differences between the two models, but haven't experienced it yet firsthand.

Well give it a go then and see what happens. If it feels right and you can get the extension warranty ? If you are looking in the next 12 months to move up a few years and a model, these opportunity's don't come around that often.
