I've read a lot about the differences between the two models, but haven't experienced it yet firsthand.
I don't think you'll see much difference in power and torque.

The differences will be in:

Chassis- ride quality and handling
Interior quality and layout
Cabriolet top- sleek 911 coupe lines and top closed driving quality and quietness.

Exterior lines and slightly larger dimensions are much more subjective.

If you don't want it I might, depending on location and details of course.

I have a 2012 991 Cab. Great car, not a single issue with it. That sounds like a great set of options and an excellent deal. As mentioned, it's a big plus to know the seller who has no reason to be anything but forthcoming.

I switched from a 2009 997CS to a 2012 991CS and have had no regrets. The car feels a bit more civilized, the 997 was definitely a bit more raw. The price sounds great.

Given the residual is fixed by Porsche, wouldn't the residual on cars coming off lease be the same (as a percentage of MSRP), providing similar priced deals?

We should have a sticky where people can post their soon to come off lease cars in case folks are interested.

Second to actually knowing the person, having a Rennlister owner could give some comfort as to the car.

Maybe you can run the transaction through your friend's dealership and have the car CPO'd. It would be worth the extra money IMO. $2-3k extra. If they play ball.
When you say "run the transaction through the dealership," what would we have to do? Would the dealer have to actually "buy" the car from my friend, CPO it and then I trust them to sell it to me at the residual plus CPO cost?

Thanks.

Also, turns out it has about 16,000 miles on it. Still seems like a great price.

Sorry. No direct experience on this. But I've read were other Rennlisters have done exactly this. Good luck.

The cpo will add a minimum of 3k to the price.

Why go through CPO if he knows and trusts the owner ? original owner can extend the warranty before he sells.

Am I missing something ?

I don't think you can just go in and buy a CPO and extend the warranty as a current owner. It's part of the dealer reselling process and one advantage Porsche gives dealers in reselling cars and making them more attractive to buyers.

^ This is what I know. If you are the original owner of the car you have the option of extending the warranty for an additional 2 yrs. If you sell the car that option is gone.

I believe that Porsche would inspect the car to see if its worthy of the extended warranty. Upon approval / passing the inspection you then have the option of purchasing the additional 2 yrs of warranty while you still own the car.

If he traded his car to a Porsche dealer, it would be inspected to see if it came up to the requirements of CPO. If so the car would be sold at the dealer as a CPO car with two years of warranty.

Good idea. If I end up wanting to buy the car, I'll ask my friend to look into the extended warranty option.

I also got some quotes for the Fidelity Platinum extended warranty. I don't know if the Porsche extended warranty has better coverage than the Fidelity Platinum -- but it probably has lower risk of not getting a warranty repair claim approved.

But you can get Fidelity Platinum coverage for up to an additional 6 years/60k, starting when you buy the warranty. So effectively, you can get up to 10 years total coverage.

The quote I got for the 6yr/60k with $250 deductible was $3200.
For 3 yr/36k it is $2075. This is for a car with 10,000 to 25,000 miles on it and still under original factory warranty.
I wonder how that compares to the Porsche 2 year extended warranty cost.

That is a great build at a GREAT price! I purchased a 2012.5 991s cab at the end of December with a similar build and what I thought at the time, and still think was a good price but nowhere near this deal. Jump on it!

Sounds like a great build and a very good price for such a low mileage car. Go for it! I don't think you'll be disappointed.
