Lol.

The best analogy I could come up with on the road to the phone.

I think Porsche has drank the Kool Aid. I think they actually buy into the farce. I think they're willingly going into the turbo direction.

I think they could get around this with all the other models with the volume they're selling to offset 911 sales.

If the base 911 came standard with a flat-crank, F6, 2.7L twin turbo making 430hp/400tq wouldn't you want one?
I would up-spend for the 480hp/430tq 3.3L TT "S" model..................gladly.

This technology is not holding back performance, quite the opposite. Ford's new 2.7L turbo truck motor makes 385hp.

Virtually every major change Porsche makes improves performance....not much of a question there. To some, the subjective feel of previous technology is an important part of the driving experience.

What is debatable is when Porsche will move to all turbo motors on "street" 911s. If it turns out to be 2016 MY, then some folks, like myself, will be hurrying to order traditional cars.

The subjective preference of some for older technology might translate to the market for these cars, years down the road, staying relatively strong.

Only time will tell for sure when the changes will come.

I agree with Merlin and SDADDY. These cars will only get better with tt engines. Both my new MBs are 3.0L tt engines and perform much better than my previous 3.5L NA engine even though it has a smaller displacement. Torque is the answer. Like PDK replaced the MT, turbos will replace NA engines. There is no going back.

The turbo kills the soul and sound of the engine..

What next? BMW style artificial engine/exhaust sound track pumping through the sound system?

I does not seem right to pan a new model without ever seeing it or driving it. Is Porsche being forced into doing anything, their cars get good gas mileage? A turbo six burns gas like a eight if you lean into it hard. Maybe the best reason to do it is to reduce weight.

The exact reason why I'll be getting a GT3 in the future when it's time to trade up. Those will remain NA!

Go over to the GT3 section and ask them if they want turbo GT3's. I'm sure it will be well received.

No chance in hell of scraping, cushion ride, lazy boy seats, orchestra quality sound offerings, baby's room quiet cabin, activist approved, and a free Dyson vacuum sounding motor! That's a great 911! * forgot one finger power steering!

I may be in the minority unfortunately.

I'm only 44 years old. Not ready to join the dinosaurs yet! I have some good driving years ahead of me now that I can actually afford a car I've always dreamt about growing up.

If you EVER get the opportunity to drive a 996.2 GT3 (especially on a track) JUMP at it ... its the most rewarding and challenging driving experience I have ever had ... you might find it a bit primitive but OMG when you drive it right ...
its like Walter Rohl's comments on his 964 RS "when it goes fast I know it is because of me... not the car"

You should take Larry's advise and drive a 996.2 GT3, a 997 GT3 also will do.
The 991.1 is very far from being raw, its a comfortable and well balanced all-arround sports car, and I like that.

Like I've said, I'm very very happy with what I have now a 991 C2S. It's as perfect as could be for me right now. NO complaints!

Reading through the posts you could deduct I was commenting on the future direction of the 911.
