Default Radio comes on at start up

I've tried searching this forum and not had much luck....

In my 2012 991 whenever I start the car the radio (standard stereo) comes on, regardless of the last setting (on or off).

Dealer said this is normal....

Google search said to hold the radio button for a few seconds when you turn it off, but then the entire PCM will be off when you start the car.

Any way to have the radio stay off and the PCM come on at start up? And yes, I basically want to have my cake and eat it too.....

Thanks!

I don't get it.

I have the base stereo and if you turn it off, it stays off.

Perhaps there is a menu function that controls this that mine is set in and am not aware of.

I glad I don't have these issues. With the exception of the seat heater/ventilation, everything stays just the way I left it.

If you leave the source as Aux the radio won't start up when you start the car. That's the best solution I've found so far.

Doesn't this have to do with the memory package. I thought it remembered your stereo settings if you have the key set to auto update on the mfd.

When I do not want the stereo to come on I turn the volume way down (quick twist of the ****) before I turn off the car. Not ideal as the media is still going in the background on start up but it works fine as a workaround.

I have the base and the memory package and have been doing this too. This is one of the few annoyances with the car so if someone can figure out how to stop the radio on startup without having to change the input I'd appreciate it too

Press the power button once to pause the CD before shutting down the car BUT the CD will restart in a very low volume. I guess it is the same deal as the fan, even you turned it off before you shutting down the car, it will come back on when you restart it.

Cool

I wonder if those who have the memory package could turn the radio off while the car is running and everything else is where they want it at start up, then push the SET and 3 button for key memory. Would it not remember to leave the radio off the next time the key is inserted?
Doing that sets the volume level on my radio for start-up.

If you don't have the memory system or Sport Chrono, my suggestion may not be helpful.

I don't have the memory package. Perhaps that's why mine stays off. ?

I have the memory package, setting memory 1, 2, and 3 or key 1 or 2 don't help the radio or fan issue.

It's a small annoyance but one I would love for them to patch.

13 C4S here and my radio stays off on start up if it was off when I turned the car off.
