Default Which 911 as long distance cruiser?

LOVE my 2013 Boxster S, but think it might be a little uncomfortable on a cross country drive.
What 911 should I consider for purely GT purposes, IE setup more for comfort than performance? And what options to select, or stay away from?

Thanks

Targa 4S w/ PDK has worked very well in that regard. The 991 chassis in general is superb in the comfort dept.

The 18 way adjustable seats are surprisingly supportive and after many several hour drives since July I highly recommend them in whichever 991 you choose. The ride in the TTS even with PDCC on is very compliant, as I surmise is the case with most 991's. Long drives in the TTS are much easier than in my A8, which is quieter.

Depends on many factors...budget, driving style/preference, 350 mi/day or 550, etc. I have done two 7k-8k trips across USA last 2 yrs in my '09 997 base Carrera...very well optioned. An absolute blast! No issues with the Porsche, mostly in Sport mode, not on Interstate highways, 26-27 mpg. Slept in car a couple nights...by necessity! It will cost you a set of tires and maybe 2 qts of oil. Enjoy the ride!

Turbo

Or Turbo S and not worrying about selecting "options"

Based on long trips with friends the Boxster doesn't really get uncomfortable so much as you get tired of the noise and buffeting. Top down including Targa tops are great around town but it gets old fast as the miles pile on. So you want a coupe. For what you're talking nothing beats a Turbo. Effortless passing, flies up mountain passes and absolutely eats up the miles like nothing else. The lack of exhaust note guys love to whine about is what you'll love on long drives. Pick whatever seats you're comfortable in and get them heated and ventilated. Burmester, if you enjoy music. Look at your tires and miles, and remember Tire Rack can drop-ship wherever.

Seats for comfort (try different options at a dealer). 19" (vs. 20") might be a consideration for comfort. 4WD for reliability in all conditions. (Adaptive) cruise control. PDCC gives some folks a more comfortable feel (while to some it detracts road feel).

I drove from Vancouver to Seattle on the weekend for the Seahawks game this past weekend, which is a pretty long drive for me. 7MT, SPASM, PDCC and 18way seats in my 50th. I was on sport plus the whole trip and the drive was quite comfortable, so I think any of the 991 cars will do fine for long trips as a minimum. Having PDK in auto mode and other features are I bonus, but you would probably do fine with a car with less options as well.

My butt starts to hurt after about an hour or so in my 50th. I think the peptia seats are firmer than the leather ones.
I would not want to do very long drives in it.

Turbo with 18-way seats. I can't imagine a much more comfortable ride.

10K+ miles in 8 mos. in my 997.2S, including two trips of 2K+ miles. Comfy, good MPG (mid - upper 20's), reasonable storage, fun to drive...T
