Default Want to gave up Cayman GTS order for CPO 991s

So, can't believe that I'm changing my mind again! My cayman GTS will arrive in 3-4 weeks, but I saw a CPO 2013 991s with only 11k km on it, full leather, burmester sound, PDCC with SPASM, PSE, 18 way power plus seats, Porsche entry and drive, areokit cup for 15k more than my Cayman GTS...The dealer is saying I could gave up my Cayman GTS for this, and they will move my depost towards this CPO 991s.

I test drove it and the car felt great, and the car is only 2 years old. Of course the only concern is how the previous owner drove the car, but the paint is flawless from what I can see, and the interior is very clean as well. Dealer is saying the owner is an active Porsche owner, did ED on this car, and went to a lot of events locally.

What do you guys think? Should I make the change? Is CPO cars less worrisome? The car would have warranty till September 2018.

Thanks a lot

+1 Same here. Sounds like. Great car.

It's your call and what ultimately appeals to you, but I'm a 911 guy all the way.

The 911S sounds like an excellent build. I went through the same process as you are going through, although I didn't place the GTS order. The on-line video's of the Cayman GTS are excellent and great selling points. There was another thread going from a guy who was going through the exact decision as you. Two points from that thread stood out for me. If I buy a Cayman GTS would I have regrets that I didn't get the 911? Do I need a back seat? For me the 911 was the goal and I would be disappointed if I didn't pony up. Also, my car is a daily driver. I had an S2000 for a year and never drove it with my 3 person family. It sat in my garage every Sat and Sun. The additional space in the 911 will work great for us (just delivered today) so we don't pile the miles on the BMW X3.

I think the Cayman GTS is a fine automobile. I have had loaner Caymans before and imagine this one is excellent. In the end it is a process you will have to go through to make your decision. I ended up with the 911S on CPO with very similar options as you are looking at. Good luck!

Have them do a readout of the DME and print a copy of the rev ranges.

If you like it, go for it.

Thanks guys for the reply, I really appreciate it. I do have two daughters, both under 4 years old. Although I have 2 other family vehicles to haul people around, it would be nice to have the option in my sports car as well. Otherwise I can see it sitting in the garage and not going anywhere, and this is suppose to be my weekend car...

I was in almost the same situation. Cayman S on order, CPO 991S on the lot. Went with the 991 and I'm glad I did. The Cayman was cool but the 991S is just a better car.

With 2 little kids, you can't go wrong with the 911; mine had no trouble riding in the back until around age 8 or so if my foggy memory serves. With 2 little kids and a Cayman, somebody has to stay home and at least at my house, it would have been the Cayman.
Sound about right?

Last spring, I was thinking about trading my M5. I had previously owned two 911s (a 996 and a 997). I had scheduled a test drive for a Cayman and when I arrived at the dealership, I looked at the Cayman that was readied for me and at the 911s parked next to it. Looking at both cars, I didn't even bother to drive the Cayman. I ended up driving away in a 911 Cab for the summer and now have a 911 GTS Cab on order. For me, there's just no comparison.

My guess is that the Cayman GTS is one of the most pure Porsches ever built. But I think that the 911 is much more versatile and simply in a different league. My $0.02.

FWIW, I bought a Boxster S with SC in 2013 and had immediate buyers remorse. I had always wanted a 911 and had convinced myself that I'd be happy with the Boxster. While it was truly an amazing car (and I'm sure that your Cayman GTS will be even better), something just wasn't right for me. I traded it in recently for a 2013 C4S and couldn't be happier. BTW, the CPO warrantee is really substantial. It would probably cover the 911 for just as much time as the new Cayman.

Either way, enjoy and good luck!

You're asking this in the 991 forum- not surprised at the responses! lol

I faced the same decision- new 2015 Cayman vs 2013 CPO 991. Once I thought it out it became clear that I didn't just want a Porsche- I wanted a 911. I am very happy with my decision.

Wow, looks like a pretty one sided opinion. I also just realized that the used 991 won't have F&PDI charges, which will brings the difference down by another 2.5k. The only thing it doesn't have is the parking sensors, but I don't think it's that important to me, and I should be able to find some good aftermarket ones.

That's absolutely right! 911 will give me a lot more chance to enjoy the car than the Cayman.
