After 4 months in the M4 I have decided to return to the 991 911
I thought you guys might be interested to see my latest video on the M4, in which I have decided to return to a 911 because I am just not loving it as much as I hoped.
The M4 is an amazing car in many ways but just not special like the 991 911 was to me. Despite all the problems I had with my 911 I still wanted to drive it every day, sun, snow or storm and in the end if we have this much money tied up in a car then that is the way we should feel about them. Driving my 911 was special and I just don't feel the same way about the BMW.
I will be waiting for the 991.2 to be released and plan to do a Euro delivery with videos covering the whole process. As to which 911 I plan to get I am still undecided but most likely a well optioned C2S like last time or a light optioned Turbo.
Below is the M4 update video and below that is a video on a 356 I took a week or so back for those interested. Lastly the full review video on the M4 for anyone that missed it.
Looking forward to being back in the fold.
All the best my friends.
Nick

I recently mentioned your initial comments on the M4 when you got it in the context of Money2536 recent comparison of his M3 vs his 991:

Excellent post, Money2536! I really appreciated your personal perspective on both cars. As you might remember, some of what you wrote was echoed by Nick Murray who sold back to PCNA his 991 'lemon' and got the new M4. He toned down his initial criticism of the M4 in later videos...but his initial impression stuck with me as the most truthful.

Besides the added weight of the M4, could you expand on what else is bothering you that prompts your earlier than expected acquisition of your next 991?

Before I get on to the M4 I have to thank you as many others have as well for your on going work on the 'Porsche Exclusive and you' thread, just excellent in every way.
As for the M4, well frankly there is no one big thing, but a few small things that might sound like nothing but they bug me. The feel of the car is lacking, not much feed back in the steering and pedals well not as much as I like at least. I also find the car large and heavy after the 911 and the ride is very firm even on comfort settings. Some of the automation is a bit off as well, not going into Park when it should and having to set up the ride, steering and throttle every single time because you can not change the defaults is annoying. Otherwise it is an outstanding highway cruiser and the power is very impressive. The HK radio is outstanding and the seats are very supportive and comfortable.
Over all a really great car just not the one for me if I have the choice.

The GTS is a very attractive package because lets face it you get the power kit pretty much for free as well as a few other toys we all want. However I don't want the CL wheels and I don't want the Aero front end. I know a lot of people love that look but not for me, I like the standard front end and for that reason I think the GTS is out for me.

Nick, I had a Sakhir M5 6MT sandwiched between two 911s for 14 months. Same as you - my M was an incredibly beautiful car that was simply not as special as the Porsche to drive. And that's really the testament to Porsche. I love BMWs and have driven them on and off since the mid-80s. But if you're a driver and want to drive everyday, Porsche has just nailed it. I have no desire to drive a Lambo or a Ferrarri. No one else gets it like Porsche gets it. Good luck with choosing your next 911.
