Default C2S vs C4S

I am considering a C4S, My 2012.5 C2S is awesome, but I found a CPO 2014 C4S that is optioned the way I want it. I have not driven a 4S and I am wondering if anybody who has driven both can comment on the differences.

Having owning a few Audis, the dreaded understeer just sucks.

TIA

I haven't driven both but looking at the little power meter at speed the car is mostly RWD. On take off is where I see a good bit of the power going towards the front.

My C4S has PDCC so it handles like it's on rails all the time.

I think the steering is also a little better in my 4S than the 2S I test drove. Seems a little more weighted.

I've owned both. The AWD 991 is a grip monster compared to the RWD.

C4S:

1) big fat ***
2) cool light bar in the back
3) Side-skirt rocker panels

What's not to luv.

For what it is worth, during my spirited tests drives on city roads. I was not able to "feel" a difference between the two.

With that being said LexVan put it best.

Some say the driving feel between the two is a pull (C4S) versus a push (C2S) sensation.

Having driven both, I have yet to discern such a nuance.

Did I mention the 305 rear tires?

For years and years Porsche had problems, such as the dreaded understeer, with all wheel drive. Even so, they had enough positives going on for a lot of people to prefer them. (Although as you can already glean from the above its hard to be sure if they really do like the handling, or is it really the wide rear and other superficial stuff that floats their boats.) Anyway, from the 997 onwards they have virtually eliminated the problems. This comes by the way from a guy who has driven a lot of them over the years and had (until the 997) pretty much decided this was something they just would never get to the point where you'd want it in a true drivers car. Now though I would say it is so good a lot of guys won't even be able to tell its there (see: Vetsky) yet its got so many advantages that I would bet that same guy who can't feel anything would nevertheless be faster (safer, more confident) with the 4. Bottom line, you absolutely must drive it to be sure. But if you then feel you like it, don't second guess yourself, go for it.

I've heard that most professional racers and veteran trackies prefer C2S, as it feels sportier and slightly lighter; by contrast, causal drivers prefer C4S, as it has this perceived surefootedness and an advantage in a foul weather. Well, I like them both. I'll probably change to C2S for 992 from my current C4S.

Here's the downside on the C4S: an extra 110 libs (like another girl in the car), lack of pure steering feel primarily due to torque steer, the wide body looks shorter and thus heavier to the eye. The 305 rear tires cost more to replace and you'll likely be doing that every 10K. You can take it from there.
