Yea or Ney on 2013 911.
Please advise on my first ever 911 purchase. I am looking for a Porsche that I would like to drive for fun on weekends but also be able to drive to work. First I thought about Cayman but changed my mind to 2 years old 991 instead.
2013 Carrera....MSRP $101.160 asking $72,500
Silver + black interior
PDK
Sport steering wheel with paddles
20" Carrera wheels painted satin
Premium Package Plus
Bose + Sirius + HD radio
14 way sport power seat
Heated/ventilated seats
Dimming mirrors
Bi-xenon with PDLS
rain sensing wipers
Power steering plus
Car has 20.000 miles and NOT a CPO. Factory warranty expires 3/2017.
Yea or Ney? At what price should I pull the trigger?
Thanks!

That's a fair price. Dealership? Why no CPO? Ask for a CPO and offer $74.5. And see what they say/do.

My other option is a 2012 991 S with CPO until 2018.
But that car has 40k miles and lowered to price but still worried about such a milage. How concerning is high mileage on 911s?

I would ask them up front why no CPO warranty. For comparison, my dealer has a 2014 Carrera with 6K miles and CPO warranty coverage until 2020 asking $85K (MSRP $98K)

The 2012 has a few more bells & whistles, plus the cpo. I just got my first Porsche (used 2013) and cpo was very high on my list, just because I know how expensive these things can get and I wanted the peace of mind. 40k miles is quite a big jump from 20k on the other one though.

There could be lots of reasons that there is no CPO on the car, but it's definitely worth asking why.
It's possible that the first owner had the car serviced, but not at the dealer, or maybe the dealer didn't report it to carfax. If it needs the service, and maybe some other items like tires, then that could explain why no CPO (it will end up pricing the car too high for the market) and we are going into winter soon, which can depress sales.
I would prefer the 911S, but the higher miles is a concern.
CPO - or any warranty - is more of a comfort thing than a real need on these cars. They are very robust, well built cars and odds are that you won't have any major issues. But if you do have an issue -- hold on to your hat, because it will be expensive!
Me personally, I never buy extended warranties, CPO or other.

Yes, car was serviced.
Salesman said, they did not certify the car because it would increase the cost of the car $3,500. And all CPO does is give you extra 2 years. If I want to sell the car before the CPO warranty expires, I won't get my money back (just hope that you will sell it for higher value).
Winter is coming here. Should I consider waiting 3 months and make it to 2015?

There are several reasons why the car isn't CPO'd. The dealership will claim they already did all the inspection points for a CPO. It does cost money to purchase the warranty but that's negotiable with the dealer and usually the cost is small enough that it's in the profit margin or at least part of it.
The bigger concern is if it doesn't qualify for CPO. That means it failed one of their criteria. Either the engine was over revved (not a concern for PDK) or a serious accident in my experience.
I would make sure they can CPO it and then it's up to you whether you want it or not. The cars are bulletproof as prior posters pointed out. But repairs are expensive and one or two random things can easily pay for the warranty.
I would not buy a car that doesn't qualify for CPO but I wouldn't necessarily pay full price for rate added warranty either. The CPO price may include new tires so ask them what it would take but just ensure it qualifies.

Wrong about the CPO. Any car on the lot can be CPOd IF it qualifies. Typically adds about $2500. If they can't CPO the car then walk, no run away...The car has a problem then

The car failed to qualify for cpo obviously which is why I would not buy the car but now with the above if I were you I would never buy from this dealership and find another dealer and another car IMO!

He obviously is lying about something so I would walk away.
