Default Key Fob after the wash cycle

Ok, I left the key fob in my pants and it got washed and spun dry along with the rest of the laundry. However, the fob did not make it into the dryer.

Anyways, the fob did not work at all after being washed. However, after taking it apart and leaving it in a bowl of uncooked rice overnight, it works even with the battery that went through the wash cycle.

Anyone else have a similar experience with washing the fob or dropping it in water?

Was it 'Basmati' rice? That is always what I recommend. I heard is also OK if you use 'Risotto'. Don't even think of 'Brown Short Grain' because of clogging issues. Good luck...and tell us how it all works out.

By the way, cook and eat the left-over rice! Don't let it go to waste. It'll be the best Porsche rice you ever had. It's just like it's done at 'Christophorus' in Zuffenhausen, except they drop leftover bolts from the production line into the rice-cooker! Same same but different.

I did same thing with mine. Took apart and blew it with compressed air and let it sit for several hours on window sill in sunshine. Still working OK several months later.

If you google up "how to dry out my Iphone" you will get pages of "bag of rice" suggestions. It works. I think your fob will be fine.
