Default Show your Escort 9500ci Display & Control Placement

I love my Escort 9500ci, and honestly get a thrill every time I hear "Front laser shifting".

It even makes me smile just writing it. In fact, I had a motorcycle cop shoot me last week and I got even more joy when he simply shook his head as he looked down at the screen of his laser device.

Having said that, for those who are thinking about where to place the display and control unit - this is where I had mine installed. The display is forward looking and easily noticeable without me having to take my eyes off the windscreen. Equally important, I had the control unit placed next to the PDK so I don't have to "look" for it. It is always near where my right hand is anyway - comfortable and easy to reach to mute etc.

Both are very incognito yet functional.

I went for the integrated factory look. Took some time to make the dash panel to make it work, but I couldn't go for the stick-on, adhesive back gig. This is in my prior Porsche, my 991 doesn't have one...

Nice placement of the display.

But your right hand should be on the steering wheel, along with your left hand. At the same time.

You other guys - nice job! I love the built-in look on drcollie's unit, and I know he did that one himself. Did you 991 fellas do it yourself or have a shop do it for you?

Me personally, it's cheaper and easier just to get the occasional ticket and pay my lawyer a few hundred bucks. Shoot, traffic is getting so bad around here that I rarely have an opportunity to speed, unless I'm just tooling along with traffic at 15 over.

Did you replace the PDK indicator in this install? It looks very clean.
I ordered a 9500ci at the CES 40% off price and my car should be at the dealer early to mid February. I like this look but anyone else do it differently?
Thanks.

Keadog - this is one of the best installs I have ever seen. Love it. They installed a Beltronics, but you get the idea, and it appears the controls are similar. Love the fact that the on/off button is integrated in the center console. Also love the overhead display. Perfect as far as I am concerned. Good luck.

That shop (Musicar Northwest) did the install for my STi-R Plus and LI laser jammers. I've been really happy with the work done - not only the visible bits, but the way they properly integrate the wiring into the car, wrap everything with cloth tape, etc. Happy to answer any questions.

Most impressive. Our son and daughter in law live near Portland - maybe I should drive out to them!
Thanks!

I didn't remove or have to replace the PDK indicator bar. Benchmark Motors in Seattle makes the custom escort display for the steering wheel column and you can see everything perfectly. If I was to do it again, I would have a slightly bigger red light flashing.

So far, I like a hybrid of your PDK display with and ashtray mount with the on/off wired to an unused console button (no PDCC) in the video. I'm planning on meeting the installer next week to go over things. The car SHOULD be getting on the Adriatic Highway in a couple days. The ship is in the Celtic Sea, headed for Emden.
Hard to beat the internet for stuff like this!
