Pepita fabric

You could always cover it in plastic
For the leather ones, the config looked like dark brown for the "white" exterior but it said agate or something. What is it really?

I have had a passive interest in AM protective options but trying to figure out if the fabric itself has any as the fabric manufacturer would have had more & better coating options available to them.

Wild pic! It zoomed in as I scrolled down. Far out.
I would suggest that the owner of the VW never bothered to clean his seat, which would contribute to the "dirty" look. Most people never clean anything in their car. We OCD Porsche owners are an obvious exception.
I'll also suggest that the seating material in a $20K VW is not the same as in a $100K Porsche.
Keep it clean and don't wear sharp objects attached to your clothing and you should be fine. If the cloth does start to wear quickly (which I doubt), it will be covered under warranty.

I had my detail shop Opti-Guard it.
http://optimumcarcare.com.au/content...r_&_vinyl.html
As expected, there's no visual indication that it's been treated. No food and drink allowed in the car (obviously), so nothing has spilled on it, but the cloth looks the same as new after six months.

Did a little research on this. Pepita is a baby girls name, means pumpkin seed, female diminutive of Joseph, or in Hebrew means May Jehova add or give increase (have children).
But then search "pepita porsche" and find Porsche "so-called" Pepita fabric http://www.porsche.com/microsite/911..._web_uk-en.pdf and "reminiscent of the "Pepita" tartan" http://www.porsche.com/uk/aboutporsc...&id=2013-06-04
So someone somewhere for some reason (probably back in the 1950's) started using "Pepita" to mean "houndstooth". Its still around and being used, enough so that Porsche acknowledges it, even though they seem to sort of wish it would go away, thus the "so-called" comments and scare quotes around the word.
So it seems "Pepita" does indeed hold up well, even when poorly cared for.
In fact, it is really "in"! (Or was, last autumn…) http://kellilatti.blogspot.com/2013/...re-really.html

Even though I have leather in the 50th, I agree with CBG above. If history is any indicator, below are a few pics of 35+ year old Pascha fabric in the 79 928. Fabric has held up very well and still looks great. T

I have since found another source in Garry Hall at Classic FX in the UK. He is having the repro fabric woven in England and is offering it at a better price, but there is limited availability. Contact him through his website: http://classiccarrestorationsurrey.c...a-houndstooth/
I found another source at a Porsche restoration site in Belgium, but I'm going with Garry's product, as reviews from the first recipients of his cloth at the Early 911S Registry were glowing.

thanks for the info!
I saw this fabric on the autobahn, lakewell, and I read about Eric Linden. But who is supplier for the porsche at the present moment for the 991 anniversary edition????? Maybe its not the same fabric as we discuss here?

The Pepita fabric used in 50th is different to the earlier ones, you can buy the 50th Pepita from fabric if you have a 50th car .... Or a friend with 50th car ... Must be a loophole somewhere.
