Everyone I know that has driven either a Cayman or Boxster GTS has raved about it...

I'd expect it to be as good as the 50th, just less exclusive, a different package for a different market.

I would like to think that the GTS would get the s/w that the GT3 got for its steering, and also the revisions in s/w (and reversing the sense of the shifter) that the GT3 got for its PDK-S but I seriously doubt it will get either of those,
as for the RWS, if it comes with that, it could be a deal breaker for me, I dont
care if it makes me faster through a corner I dont want to drive 'fork-lift' technology.

I cant recall what the pricing model was like for the previous 997 GTS, but it was discounted relative to a similarly specced car from the configurator.

Interestingly enough, when you go and spec a 50th and a C2S they come out to about the same MSRP... so we will have to wait and see...

..........except you can't spec a C2S like a 50th. Wide body/Fuchs style wheels/chrome trim/colored dials/unique colors etc.etc. Just saying.

With all due respect you are missing my f*cking point ... I could care less about fuchs wheels, colored dials, boring colors and houndstooth seat fabric... of course those are unique to the 50th.

My POINT is that when you spec a Carerra 2/4S with powerkit and major features (PDK, Leather) comparable with the 50th (devoid of all the superficial sh*t) they have essentially the same MSRP.

My recollection is that this was *NOT* the case with the 997 GTS and its counterparts, the 997 GTS was less than the equivalent 911.

Hence the assertion that while it would be nice if the forthcoming GTS was discounted from the MSRP of a similarly configured 911 there is a chance
it will be a wash wrt MSRP.

YMMV

Larry, relax. It's an internet post. You should skip the GTS and invest in Porsche anger management classes. /shrug.

You're right. I know because I was at the time very close to buying one. Comparing performance features/options, and like you said setting the superficial stuff aside, the GTS was several thousand less than a similarly optioned C2S. I forget exactly but want to say it was like $3-4k less. This is without factoring in the wide body, which no idea what that's worth or would cost.

By the way, I did the same thing when the 991 first came out and definitely recall it was a whopping $7k LESS than a similarly optioned 997, and same deal, not giving any value to the all-new longer wheelbase/wider track/new suspension/new body/new interior/on and on.... all of which is yet another reason I'm having a hard time getting worked up about a GTS. Unless they listen to Eduardo and give the GTS the RAS and steering from the GT3- and introduce the GTS mid-cycle- then its kind of pointless. If they again wait until near the end of the cycle you'll be a sucker to buy a GTS when the next generation is all but guaranteed to be better in every way AND a greater value too.
