Default Led Ring around the Headlights

Hey guys I might have asked this before but I am really getting to where I want to do this aftermarket. Does ANYONE know IF it can be done? Does anyone know to do it? Does anyone know where to get the rings and is there a DIY set of Instructions and would you guys do it? This is the only thing I feel like I missed out on when I got my car, but I didnt have the luxury of ordering it.
This is a big deal with BMW cars and the internet is awash with after market guys building all kinds of after market "Angle Eyes"

I am surprised Suncoast hasnt stocked the parts yet. You can get a PDLS after market headlight there. In fact and I might have mentioned this before, I have never seen a model 911 (964,993,996,997) with so much after maket stuff as the 991. Porsche exclusive? NO how about the FREE MARKET!!

Careful messing with aftermarket electronics and wiring on the 991.

I have the factory LED headlights, and would not exactly describe the DRL as a true ring or halo. In some lighting situations is appears as such, other times not. Still luv 'em!

Love the look of my LED's as well but I agree with Lex. I would never alter any of the electronics. Did you ask your dealer if the LED lights can be retrofitted?

Frankly, I'd settle for my bi xenons lighting up the road up more than 50 feet ahead of me. Pretty useless headlights.

The LED lights are well worth the cost. They do not light up a ring as someone else said. It's more like 4 lights in the shape of a square which I think is supposed to be like the 919 but not literal. The lights have auto high beam and seem to work very well at night and around the corners. The only question I have is, when the LED burns out, how much will it cost???

I love my PDLS with LED.

The DRL LED is basically four dots, not a halo a la BMW's angel eyes.

Pretty sure the headlight unit is not pug-and-play as the high and low beams probably have different wiring. Just a guess, however.

Yes. But I've never experienced.

So can the bi xenons be swapped out for the LEDs?

It's not believed to be a simple plug & play. Don't think anyone has tried yet, either. All the LED systems, also have PDLS Plus. and PDLS Plus has a front mounted camera system for the dynamic functions of the LEDs, so that's going to be hard to fit, through the techquipment process.

Its a "life of the car" part. What that means, when the part goes, costs so much to replace, that's the life of the car!

The A19 LED bulb used in the headlight unit has a rated life expectancy of minimum 17,000 hours (and most bulbs are still emitting light at 70% if not 100% after 17,000 hours).

If you average 4 hours of DRL use, that'll mean the LEDs in your car will last about 17 years, give or take a day or two.

Of all the consumables in my 911, the LED bulbs rank way, way, way low on the totem pole of concerns.

Assuming 17,000 hours of life expectancy and an average of 4 hours per day of usage, I get 12 years (rounded). Where did you get the "extra" 5 years?

Grunty - get your dealer to adjust the lights.

The xenons are pretty amazing. The regular beam (with pdls) is extremely effective and the high beams are like driving into a tunnel of light. Compared to many other cars I have downed, they are the best headlights.

I would like to see if the LEDs are any better side by side. I believe the light output is limited in the US and none of the clever focusing techniques they can use in Europe are allowed either. Auto dimming I have on my Sienna minivan even and never use it there. I'm not sure what the value is in the US.

If Porsche can get the Audi laser system approved in the US it would be a significant setup from the xenons. The LEDs right now, I think you are just paying for the four dot daylight running lights, which are just not as cool looking as BMW or Audi DRLs...
