Default 3M Paint Protection Film

Hey Everyone!

Preparing for delivery of my C4S cab - I'm starting to think about paint protection.

1) What do you think of the 3M paint protection film?

2) What areas of the cover would you cover? Full front end plus _______

If not 3M then what?

I kind of looked into it but in the end decided against it due to my low mileage summer use. It seemed that xpel ultimate is the market leader, have a look in pistonheads forum as there are quite a few threads on the topic.

Yes, get it. It will prevent all the rock chips and the Porsche paint is quite soft. I got it all the way to the rear with the exception of the rear bumper for $1800.

Xpel or Suntek are probably the two best.

I did the entire front clip and mirrors with Xpel. Installation looks good and can't even notice it on a silver car.

There's about a zillion threads on this already and opinions will vary from swaddling the entire car in plastic wrap so it will be in perfect shape for the next owner, to doing nothing, which is what I did.

I used to make fun of the "swaddlers" but I'm honestly starting to have second thoughts. Paint durability is absolute **** these days. I'm seeing more rock chips on my '13 Boxster after two years than I've seen on other cars I've owned for 7+.

I wonder about the durability of Porsche paint as well. My wife's '13 Mercedes has 33k miles now without a single chip. My Porsche would get a chip if someone sneezed near it.

+1 on the Xpel.
All new cars in our household get the Xpel treatment.
I went with a full front, roof, rear bumper behind the wheels and had my installer replace the factory film in front of the rear wheels with larger coverage on my 50th
I am a little spoiled because Xpel's head office and master installers are in my home town.

Would love to see some close ups of your 50th with xpel, even better if you have before & after.

Does the xpel make the surface look blurry under the sun? I checked most of the photo and the paint seemed to be missing the glossy look. Would like a clarification on this.
