BMW M4 first drive
For those of you interested here is my video on the new replacement BMW M4
While I did not say it in the video it might interest you guys that the M4 feels SO big and heavy after coming from the C2S. I am sure I will get used to it. I know I will also miss the shape of the 991, still the most beautiful car on the road in my view. I look forward to getting back into a 911 at a future date maybe the 2016 MY.
Mean time I am sure I will have fun in the M4 and happy to post updates if you are interested.
Have a great weekend Porsche friends!

Another fantastic machine - enjoy it in good health!
I just picked up the Gran Coupe version and the M4 must feel huge compared to the 991 since it has the same overall dimensions. My GC has the base suspension and BMW seems to have tuned it to drive and feel like a luxury car, so I would imagine even with the M enhancements it must be a compliant daily driver.
Airbag light is likely a quick fix (although kind of ironic it lit up right after pulling out of the dealership), the drivetrain whine might be another story. IMO the Porsche 991 has the best implementation of the dual clutch transmission and this might end up being the feature of your 991 you miss the most.

I have to really commend BMW Engineering for building such an outstanding performance car on the pedestrian 3 series platform. Although they aren't on a par with 911s, every M3 that I have ever driven provided outstanding performance, and is a great choice for sports car lovers who require a car with a useable back seat.

Or maybe the M4 Star Wars sound effects accessorize with the heads-up display?
Whatever. Important thing is: gorilla legroom!

I am thinking about getting an M4 as a daily driver. Your reviews are always most helpful Nick!

Thanks for the review, Nick. It should be fun to at least try something new for a while. And I disagree with the comment above about the DCT--I had M-DCT in my E90 M3 prior to my 991S, and I feel that, at least in manual mode, the M-DCT is superior to the PDK. In the more aggressive settings, the DCT feels more direct and mechanical than PDK, and it doesn't automatically kick down a gear when in manual mode like PDK does. I'm assuming the GT3's PDK-S is a big improvement over mine...
