4-Way Sport Seats
I have been looking at the Porsche configurator on the Porsche web site and would like to clarify the operation of the 4-way Sport Seat.
It says backrest and height adjust, with manual fore/aft.
On the Height adjust, does that only move the height up and down, without allowing any tilt of the seat cushion?
Thanks.

Correct.
The seat back reclines back and forth and the seat bottom adjusts up and down (height). When adjusting the seat bottom up and down it begins to tilt down (no longer level) towards the rear of the seat bottom as is gets closer to the floor in it's lowest position. The adjustment front toward the steering wheel and rear towards the rear seats are manual by the handle under behind your right calf.

I had the 4 way seats in my 2013 Boxster S and didn't realize that they don't include the thigh support you get with the 14 way. I definitely got the 14 way when I traded car in for my 911.
Grew up in B'ham/BHills btw...

I have the base seats in my car and they're great - because they are wider than the upgraded power seats. Plus, they weigh 30 lb less per seat.

I have the 4 way sport seats. I bought my 991 preowned, and would have gotten the 14 or 18 way seats. Another problem is with the manual adjust. If you let a valet drive your car, the seat adjustment always is off, n easy memory button. BTW, we are neighbors OP, I'm in West Bloomfield.

This is very wise. I had the 4-way in my boxster and have always hated them, never could get comfortable in them. Now have the 14-way with memory, soooooo brilliant, perfect position, hence excellent comfort, hence excellent feedback from the chassis !

Even odder is the reported 30+ pound dead weight increase just for seat adjustments. That's just sacrilegious for a car like this IMHO. My CPO had the 14 ways but any is ever order round have the 4 ways. They're still great seats, but I'd rather get rid of the 30lb lead weight it represents. Ymmv.

I wish they'd put the added weight tally right along with the price. They split the atom trying to shave ounces and brag about the body in white and net weight savings, then everyone specs a substantial amount if weight right back in. I heard 30lbs but I assumed that was total. If it's per seat that's just freaking insane.

If you like your seat down low, the 4 way go lower than the 14 & 18 , in the front, ( I assume the motors hold it higher), pushing the clutch leaves the bottom of my (bad) knee hard against the seat cushion. For me the four way works better.
It was mentioned in another post also.

I had originally ordered my car with the 14 way seat. Then I thought why spend the money, and I tried the 4 way seats. I couldn't get comfortable so I thought maybe I should try the 18 way. Yeah. I ordered the 18 way seats. They are slightly more comfortable then the 14 ways IMHO BUT you have to like the plastic gray back of them (or pay for the leather upgrade).

4 way, 14 way, 18 way, 36 way... that's why it's great to have options.
Driving position is one of the most important parts of the driving experience and we are all different. When I worked for the engineering dept. at BMW many years ago the Germans went on and on how picky the Americans are (were). I was born in good ole Pasadena USA but am half German so I could basically get away with talking **** back at the engineers. Driving position and seat comfort in older German cars, well you know what I'm talking about.
If you have spent seat time in a 911 SC or a 993 the 4 way seat in the 991 is quite nice. If you have any kind of back problems or other issues getting comfortable is so important. Everyone is going to need something different.
Bacura, I think this is a great task for you. Let's find out how much heavier a loaded 991s is compared to a stripped 991s. I consider mine pretty much stripped with only PDK, PSE and Sport Chron, 4 way seats, base stereo etc. I wonder if the difference between a Burmy stereo car with 18 way heated and vented seats is almost like having another adult riding along with a guy in a stripped car??
