Default Engine Stumble on Roll Out

I have a 2014 991S PDK. It's developed an issue that I likely need to just go to the dealer for, but wanted to ask if it was common.

Occasionally from a dead stop, when I apply the gas the RPMs rise and then the car stumbles as if on a manual car you either let the clutch out too fast or gave it too little gas. Of course I compensate by giving more throttle, then once the engine recovers it revs very quickly.

I can't really determine if it's a cold/hot thing. I've had it happen in normal and sport mode. It's happened when I'm trying to smoothly accelerate and when I've given ~1/2 throttle.

It's kinda dangerous. A couple of times I've pulled out with plenty of distance to cross a one way street by my house, but the car bogs, hangs for a second or two, THEN goes. Which when your car has moved into traffic, is not a fun thing to happen.

Is this a common issue?

UPDATE

I finally had time to bring the car to the dealer.

Turns out my fears about the issue not being replicatable were unfounded. The dealer definitely identified the issue. At first, they questioned me about where I bought gas. They also indicated that they had tested the octane. I buy mostly Shell and of course always use the good 93 we get in Texas.

The service writer first took a stab at replacing wheel speed sensors. That was yesterday. I called today and they said they're waiting for a crankshaft sensor, so I'm thinking the wheel speed sensors didn't do the business.

The sensor won't be available at the dealership until Monday and I'm out of the country until Wednesday. I'll update this thread as soon as I get the car back.

That's pretty much what I figure to hear.

I hate bringing intermittent issues to a dealer though. I know they're just going to blow me off.

Not my experience either with my 7-speed MT.

Sounds like yours is PDK, right? Wonder if this is the hesitation others have complained about (Stealth comes to mind)??

It's a PDK. That's an important piece of information, so I've updated the first post.

I'm positive it's a PDK issue. There's some mismanagement of the clutches vs. throttle. The car will bog and then there's a delay THEN power.

Take your service advisor for a drive. Duplicate the issue. They'll fix it. Maybe the PDK needs a re-flash.

What happens when you ease on the throttle in sport or sport plus?

What happens when you put your foot onto it in sport or sport plus?

I don't spend much time with Sport+.

I can replicate the issue in Sport. In any mode, if I stab the throttle to ~75% the engine seems to work okay.

How many miles, I wonder if it could be some learning mode glitch?

When was the last time you had it into the dealer for an update?

I didn't have that issue, but I did have what some have said was sluggish shifting in normal mode. Recent routine software update during the 2 year service seemed to have solved it.

As it's a MY14, never. I'll call the dealer tomorrow. It's my daily driver, so I need to setup a loaner and such, which is always a f-ing pain in the ***.

Oh yeah, I missed that. I'm not sure how recent the update was or what your build date was, but I think and hope its something as simple as that.

I have noticed this once with mine also. I only have 750 miles on my 2014 targa 4s so far, but I will be watching to see what you may find out.
