I tried to place an order a few weeks ago in UK & Switzerland and Porsche were not taking anymore orders. I expect over the coming weeks the last deliveries will be made for orders taken before that.

See the car in my Avatar? Porsche Design Edition 2, 2008. 500 units worldwide production. MSRP $ 72,580. I bought it from Porsche of Naples during the recession for $ 55,500.

Very nice Boxster, but, apples and oranges, really. None of the LE's for the 986 nor the 987 have done very well. The Spyder, yes.

Classic Porsche 101

911 - Claim to fame - Coupe - RWD - Manual - no sunroof

Above criteria is the hierarchy for perfect classic Porsche model, the further you stray away from the formulae the bigger the gap in perceived value, unfortunately if its not 911, the car is a nonstarter.

A bit harsh. I have a very low mileage one with PDK/sunroof. I guess I have lost 50% already. Let me guess....yours is manual and no sunroof? Why am I not surprised.

Dude, that doesn't even sound like a 911.

I suppose the 991 GT3 is no longer a 911, nor is the current generation TT/TTS.

My dealer has two 50's on the lot. I'm not in the market for one, but can't imagine they wouldn't deal on them.

My 50th is PDK and actually wanted a glass sunroof but there were none so ended up with no sunroof. I am merely stating the facts not blowing my own trumpet (or car value).

Here is the acid test, see how many 964 1992-94 rear wheel drive, numbers matching all original low mileage 911s are there on the market. At 20 these cars should not be classics but their price is fast approaching a new 991 and going up, hence no one is selling, if its Targa, tiptronic or comes with a sunroof then yes price gets slashed by a big margin.

Interesting. My dealer has always told me that it is easier for them to sell a car with a sunroof. Hard to believe that a 911 with a sunroof would take a big slash in price. The tiptronic I understand since was a torque converter. The targa I would have no idea. I love the coupe but the targa has a big following and are harder to find.

We all knew dealers would tell you things depends on selling or buying. When they try to sell you that Guard Red 9XX in the lot they would tell you it's a sport car color and all that crap...But when you try to trade in your Guard Red they will say, "man, if your car is silver or black I can offer you a few thousands more but it's Guard Red..."

This is so true....no matter how pure your car is at trade-in, it has a fatal flaw of some kind. It has to be a standard sales technique, it even happens when I trade in a F-150, the top-selling vehicle in the country (oh, if your F-150 had _____, then we'd be able to give you so much more for it.)

My dealer spent half an hour only to find a 5x10mm bit of corrosion on front offside alloy .... On a 9 year old AMG with 85,000 miles on the clock. I congratulated him on his effort and offered to deduct £50 for a refurb from the price

Needless to say that was £50 off an already below market price lol

I got 5% off asking having caught a cancelled order very late and obtained one of the last ones from the factory here in the UK. A friend that had his on order early on also achieved 5%.

Another friend that purchased a used one with 2000 miles just did very well on price albeit the car has a few what i would call "expected" options missing.

Doubt you'd see more than 5-7% on a good day so i wouldn't worry too much.
