Would any of these tints interfere with a windshield mounted 'iPass' or similar toll system? Do you end up leaving a small square un-tinted to mount such systems?

I'm sure that we both used the same installer since they have exclusive rights to Spectra tint in the SD area. I gave it an **** inspection before responding. I'm sorry you're unhappy with your back window. That would definitely aggravate me. My install is truly excellent! Yelp and the many customers at the shop LOVE these guys. I would be surprised if they would not make your rear window right for you. They seem to stand behind there work.

I use a transponder type toll system. I lay the transponder on a micro fiber towel, before going through a toll station, on the dash and it works fine. My entire windshield is tinted with Photosync 75 and the rest with darker Photosync. I have no issues with any RF communication and would expect no problem with any ceramic or nano tint.

Ceramics are designed for this purpose...not interfering with electronic signals. Just make sure to find out what film is being installed, and make sure it's ceramic.

I know its been discussed before but please be aware of the massive liability issue with tinting front windshield..... quite a few states specifically don't allow additional film to be applied. Obviously the risk comes in a catostrophic accident and if found could be a game ender financially depending on circumstances involved and the severity of injuries. To me way to much potential risk, but just my 2 cents.

Thats why most people use 75% or 80%. Its more likely to reduce accidents, since it reduces driver fatigue and does not reduce visibility in the slightest.

I don't need to be sold on it....it was simply a warning for those that add it. I think it would be difficult for investigator to find in most cases at the 70-80% levels anyways but there was an accident a few years ago involving a car with front tinted windshield that entered a intersection at night that hit another car and killed the passenger in front seat of the car with tint on windshield. Alcohol was not a factor but needless to say the approach from the wife of passenger's attorney was that the windshield tint contributed to the cause of accident by reducing visibility at night.

For comparison purposes, the windshield on the 911s are rated at 75% VLT (visible light transmission). With PhotoSync, it comes as light as 75%, so you can imagine how light it is. This product will reduce heat transmission by somewhere in the 50%s, which is quite significant for a product this light. When installer is tinting the inside of the windshield, where does the liquid solution runoff go ? Seems gravity will take over and play with the expensive electronics under the dash. Would it make more sense to just Clearplex or ? the outside of the windshield that already has built in UV and stone chip protection ? T

There are numerous ways an installer can seal off the edges. This comes down to experience. As for Clearplex, it has little to no heat rejection and it will not last more than 12 months before the coating starts to flake off from wiper usage (unless you do not use the wipers at all).
