That test with the Tesla was very impressive.

Can you comment on what levels of tint your clients "get away" with in California? From what I've read, it seems that California doesn't allow any window tinting other than the rear window. I may end up in CA, so wondering in advance.
That is correct. Most OEM windshields today run about 75%-80% light transmission. As for our clients, typically they go with 45% - 55% for the front passenger / driver windows. On the windshield they almost always go with 75 on the windshield. So far, with Spectra PhotoSync, we have installed this since 2010 and onto well over 2000 cars. With this set up, we have not seen anyone come back with a fix-it ticket.

We have installed ceramics and other tints from 1997 and generally from 40% and up it's relatively safe, but we have had one customer w/ a 50% ceramic tint come back for tint removal after getting a ticket and that is since '97.

What do you charge for full coverage on a Macan? (California law spec, so nothing that would get me pulled over)

Is there any treatment for the windshield to protect it against road debris? On my previous 997 Carrera S Cab, I noticed that the windshield had like million of little pits or mini dot size scratches (most likely from sand storms in the way to Palm Springs) so is there a way to protect from that?

I just had mine done by lummar. Looks great but there is a flapping noise on the drivers side.
That auto down and up when opening the door drove the tinter crazy
Just did the sides and back all one color

You just disconnect the window mechanism while you are tinting. There are a lot of cars that require this.

Just had Spectra PhotoSync installed on Saturday on my wife's '13 C4S by Absolute Perfection in Sykesville, MD - I have no associatation with them; chose them because they were the closest installer to my home. I went with the 75% VLT on the windshield, and 45% VLT everywhere else. On Agate Grey Metallic it looks just right - not too dark, not too light. Amazing difference in the amount of heat getting into the car. AP did a great job - no complaints at all. Give Becky a call at 410-549-4285 if you live in the DC/VA/MD area.

Thanks Premier for spending the time to doc the difference of Pohotsync. Justifies me paying up from the regular tints.

Default PhotoSync clarity

Just had all windows done in 75% PhotoSync. Installer did a good job BUT....
Has anyone noticed the less than clear optical characteristic of the film? Orange peel texture especially noticeable looking out from front windscreen. I'm new at aftermarket tint and for the price I paid I expected similar clarity as factory tint. I know it's a different product than factory tint as it's an applied film vs in the glass. I hope it gets better after it "cures" during the next 30 days. If not I will get it removed.

I personally have had 3M and Llumar before and comparing those with PhotoSync is night and day in terms of blocking the sun. On the orange peel end, I do notice it if I were trying to look for it, but it's really a non-issue for me personally. The 3M and Llumar on my other cars have way more orange peel than PhotoSync. If you've never had tint done on the windscreen, then that might be the problem because you're constantly staring at it. I also have PhotoSync 75% on the frotn windscreen and do not notice it at all unless I am actively looking for something. Again, for me well worth the price especially through summer.

I had Photosync installed by an EXCELLENT installer in San Diego last week. 75 Windshield, 65 Glass Sunroof, 45 for the rest. I love it! The clarity will improve rapidly for the first several days. This is true for all tint films that I am aware of. A small amount of moisture remains between the film and glass initially. After a week, mine looks great!

Thanks for the encouragement as I really want this to work out. I am a bit of a fanatic when it comes to quality optics/cameras/field glasses/sunglasses, and clean windows so I am sensitive to this.

Who is your Excellent San Diego installer?
The San Diego installer, who did my PhotoSync install, left lots of bubles in the rear window.
I want it redone, by someone else.
There was only 1 SD installer back then, but I hope there is another one now.

My tint guy said he could not do my windshield due to the electronics and interference. I suppose he meant the sensor for the auto dimming high beam assist. Did the tint not affect that functionality for everyone who had it applied?

The camera sensor for the high beam assist is pressed against the glass from the inside so the only way tinting could interfere would be if applied to exterior of the window. My tint went on the inside so no issue with the camera.

If you choose a ceramic film, it should not interfere with any electronics. We've installed Huper on every car we tint, and no issues.
