Also, I remember on my 987 if you wanted to plug the portable electric air pump into a socket in the car you had to plug it into the arm rest one or you'd blow a fuse. Not sure if the same is true on the 991.

I read somewhere on here (forum) that the smoking package outlet is always live. In my 350Z the outlets were all off when the ignition was off, was at work, cell phone went dead, only had the car charger but couldn't charge the phone without running the engine. Does the other outlet or outlets shut down with the ignition, shut down at a programed amount of time after the ignition is turns off, or stay on? For using a "battery tender" through an outlet, it would have to stay live. On the other hand, if you were running a GPS or detector off an outlet you would want it to shut off with the ignition.

The cigarette lighter plug with the Smokers Package is always live. I use it all the time with my charger. Doesn't matter if I plug the charger in after two days of inactivity, the charger still works.

I've gone back and forth on this option for my current config. I added it after I saw how clean the console looked with the closed lid, and then took it back off when I saw how another member had fit his radar/laser detector controls in the open slot. But I'll probably change once or twice more before my config is locked down.

another "first world problem!" This seems to get almost as much discussion as the PDK vs. MT topic, just a little less passion around it. Imagine the conversations at Porsche during the design process! I don't think there is a right answer, and those who say there is a right answer are wrong.

No doubt Hammer.

Of course PAG are the dummies. They charge for every other little option. I can't believe the smoking package is free!

Only free once from factory. After the sale, to add it, is over $200 from places like Sunset.

Has anyone ordered/installed the smokers package after the fact? Cost?

I like the looks of it better.

I have it even thought I don't smoke. It covers up the coin tray and it's free. That and the passengers footwell cargo net are the only 2 free options so take 'em!

could be expensive to put in, especially if you want a working cig lighter as they would have to wire it in - last time I checked, which was about a year ago, it was like $600

I only went with it because it looks nice and clean with the cover. I never use the power outlet because than the flip top is in the up position which I find a little uncomfortable ...... But mine is a manual so my arm is near it and it hits the underside of my wrist.

I believe the front park assist on the cabs are also free if you request it. Having the rear (which are standard) w/o the front seems silly!
