Default PDK Failure - 2014 Carrera S only 1100 miles

My PDk just failed. Warning signs all over the dash and the car did not move. Apparently this is not a an unusual occurrence and Porsche NA knows about it. It's not right that they don't tell owners about this issue or put cars on the road knowing they have a problem. I can rely on the car to pick up my daughter from the ballet how can I trust it on the limit on a racetrack.

How long did they take to do the work?

Thanks. BTW nice car. I have a powerkit and ceramic brakes on mine. I'll upload a pic. My sister lives in Oyster Bay. I know the roads around there. You have to come out West where the weather and the roads are amazing. (not to mention Sonoma racetrack and Laguna Seca)

Very disappointing. Hope this is the exception rather than the rule.

Sorry. This sucks. Not the first one. Won't be the last one. But still pretty rare. You'll be back at ballet soon.

Thanks. Ya I'm in SF. I will post again soon as I hear what it is. The dealer says it could be just a reprogram or a complete transmission change.

Sorry. Yeah as been said, it's happened a few times at least that we know of. Hey, at least your engine hasn't been replaced, I did that fun stuff last December. Overall though, I think we have great cars.

Yours is not the only one to have early failure.

I am more concerned about late failure after the warranty runs out.

Sorry to hear that for you. Keep us updated on the outcome please, and thanks for sharing.
I am about to order a Targa with PDK. Reading Consumer Reports with the 911 on their "Cars to avoid" list, coupled with GT3 mess, I'm starting to wonder... (long time 911 owner here).
Expensive cars to have doubts...

I am also concerned when warranty runs out. I went to the P Dealer and bought a factory 2 year extension that's available in Canada just to protect me around the PDK issues. If we buy the extension any time within 12 months of delivery then no charge for an inspection. From the 1 year to 4 year time frame then you have to pay for an inspection (estimated around $4-$500).

John,

If I may ask how much the 2 year extension cost and what it all covers?

Thanks!

Marcus
