PDK Failure - 2014 Carrera S only 1100 miles
#16
My PDk just failed. Warning signs all over the dash and the car did not move. Apparently this is not a an unusual occurrence and Porsche NA knows about it. It's not right that they don't tell owners about this issue or put cars on the road knowing they have a problem. I can rely on the car to pick up my daughter from the ballet how can I trust it on the limit on a racetrack.
P:
I know you are still waiting for the suspect culprit(s) to be identified by the dealer, but did the car (PDK) give and odd symptoms......e.g., reluctant to shift, reluctant to go to neutral when stopping, or anything the rest of us might watch for?

Sorry to hear that for you. Keep us updated on the outcome please, and thanks for sharing.
I am about to order a Targa with PDK. Reading Consumer Reports with the 911 on their "Cars to avoid" list, coupled with GT3 mess, I'm starting to wonder... (long time 911 owner here).
Expensive cars to have doubts...

Just heard from the dealer on my 2014 Carrera S (with 1100 miles on it) PDK failure. It seems the control unit malfunctioned and that stopped the flow of hydraulics to the transmission, which consequently shut down the transmission. They are replacing the control unit. It's readily available (they will receive it within a day) which means this is not an uncommon issue.

Hmm I wonder why they mentioned the '13 and not the '12? With the proliferation of the internet in all its forms I think what CS offers is rapidly dwindling in significance anyway.

Sorry I have to ask, are you holding the paddle in and overriding the actual shift point? That's what my dealer is claiming is the issue. I have the manual 7 speed and no issues. I did pay for the extended warranty. Cost was ~$2200.
