Default Window Whistle

Hi Guys .... has anyone else had the following fault.

Periodically - the passenger window does not go fully up and above 50km/h ish you get a whistle. You can manually fully close the window and the whistle stops.

Fun fact - There is a two step process for the window closing. A larger gap when you open the door and a tiny gap when you set/unset your alarm.

What I think the fault is that sometimes the tiny gap from the unset of the alarm happens correctly but for some reason when the driver door is opened and closed only the drivers door window fully recloses correctly.

I have searched this forum without luck so I thought I'd throw this out there. Looking for ammo to go back to the dealer with. Having made 2 visits to them already and they are scratching their heads.

Thanks in advance

Yes I notice exact same on my passenger side, only hear it at above 60mph speed however. Goes away after I pull up on the switch seems to be a fraction of an inch difference in closing. Not sure if there is an adjustment for this.

Is it the same noise as in my video at 12:50? (say in the video sunroof but it is in fact the window)

My car has been in the dealer for 6 weeks now working on that problem

Try resetting your window switches.

To reset (car must be on):
1) lower the window all the way down and release the switch
2) push the switch down, hold it there for 3 seconds, and then release
3) raise the window all the way and release the switch
4) pull the switch up, hold it for 3 seconds, and then release
5) turn car off and then back on

Same problem. Fairfield Porsche in CT could not replicate or find a problem. I just get used to manually closing the passenger window every time I drive it. Will try the reset.

Thanks Nick ... I knew I saw the issue on here somewhere. I thought I had read it but it was in your video. So 5 users so far have this issue.

I'll also try resetting the window ... Thanks duxsi.

I think this may have something to do with the bonnet release ... need to do more testing. Unlock car, open bonnet with remote, close bonnet, get in car drivers side.

I have done this twice now and it looks like the window was still slightly down both times... i.e you could still raise it a little. I only live 5 minutes from work and only go on back roads so I need to repeat this and hit a motorway to see if it whistles.

What is the status on your car of the rubber piece that meets the window at the front end of the door? I have had the same whistling a few times and noticed today that the rubber piece at the "triangle" at the front of the window has split and the "point" of the rubber piece can get stuck outside of window frame piece. Pulling up on the switch pulls the rubber piece back in.

I can not yet confirm that this is the problem because I just took mine in for regular service today, and they ordered a replacement rubber piece. I would be willing to wager on it though. I can report back next week.

fbroen, does your noise go away if you try raising the window?

Yes. The minute I pull the switch and the window does its little jump up. In my case, it pulled in the little rubber piece stuck outside the rain / door frame rail and instant quiet.

My part came in today, so we shall see.
