Default annoying find with 3M film!!

So today I got the car washed and noticed some dead bugs on my bumper (I have 3M on bumper and half hood protection). I cleaned the bugs off and noticed in two areas that the bugs actually left an indent/mark where they use to be. It's almost like the bug acid melted into my 3M film. It's noticeable but faint.

Am I losing my mind?? Anyone else deal with this? I am going to try to use an orbital buffer and maybe the heat from the spinning pad will smooth it out??

Yes. Bug guts are your worst clear bra enemy. Especially yellow guts-they can stain. I have used the buffer with swirl remover to do light repairs, but be very careful. The film doesn't handle aggressive buffing well.

It is for this reason that I went with Xpel ultimate.
It has a self-healing (heat activated) property that does not leave these indents.

It is for this reason that I will get the front end resprayed at some point, maybe, and not sweat it too much until then.

Bug dents! How fast do you have to go before the bugs dent? You don't need no S!

Not sure if that's the case but interesting. Spoke to my friend yesterday and he said the same thing happened to him and the installer used Xpel.

It is likely chemical interactions between the recently departed bugs and the film. Even paint clear coat is susceptible. All one can do is wash the offenders off no long after every drive.

There's always the Ferrari method of paint protection: Don't drive it too many miles.

They're just keeping it clean for the next owner! Don't you know anything about Ferraris (and apparently Porsches too)?!
