You all may be shocked to learn of this, and I hate to be the bringer of bad news... However, the hardcore, no frills, no options sports car guys are such a tiny fraction of the real world customers of Porsche, that I do not fault them for what they are doing. If they did what you want, well, they would be Lotus...
You can always go buy an Exige or Elise if you want your no frills sports car...
Also, the 997s are no slouch when it comes to frills and options and luxury items in the car.

The interior changes remind me of the 996 and the moving away from the simple classic lines of of the 993. The 997 brought those retro lines back in with some very nice touches. The one thing they haven't changed are the cup holders n the dash. Perhaps those should be, uh, forgotten?

has anyone read the mobile artical motor trend has put out? it said the car is going to have a seven speed MANUAL based on the pdk.. HOW the hell is that going to work?
And to all those shouting about no frill sports cars.. the caymen is porsches replacement for the currnet position the 911 holds..
I am getting a 991, just because i like the panamara but dont want 4 doors.

The PDK double clutch auto has been sharpened up again but it is the manual that might be introduced that breaks new ground. In effect it is a manually controlled single clutch version of PDK which means, for the first time in any manual production car I can think of, seven forward speeds. In fact the first six ratios are identical to the auto, though a slightly shorter, more sporting top gear is fitted.
