has a date been set for 991 in the US yet? any unconfirmed but reasonable ideas?

All I have to say is it looks just like all the other spy shots of the 991, except the side air ducts are real (not stickers). The front and rear bumpers look like they are borrowed from the current 997 turbo.

The prototype mule looks to have the standard retractable spoiler of the 991, but I suspect that may change to a more aggressive rear spoiler or a fixed wing when the production 991 turbo is released.

One of these weekends, I'm going to get extremely bored and tape a bunch of black cardboard **** on my 911 and drive around town, park at a gas station or two, and look spy-ish.

I recall Automobile magazine did this a while back before the ZR1 was introduced. They covered a rented Corvette with some strategic cardboard and duct tape, drove around Detroit and waited to see where all the 'spy' shots ended up before fessing up.

As the layers of cover peel away I can see that the lines of this new 991 are going to be fantastic. It's also obvious that its moving further away from being a sports car and even closer to being a true GT car. But that's ok since Porsche has other cars that fill the sports car category.
