how do you think the 991 will look?
we have seen pictures and renderings of how the 991 will look but i just wanted to share my own guesses on how it will look.
the 991 will be as big a change in looks as the 993 to 996 change. the front face will change substantially to look more like the face of the panamera. with this change the whole line up will share a common look from boxster to panamera to the cayenne. currently the 997 is the only one that looks different
the body wil be a bit longer and might share some design details coming from the 918 spider...
power will of course be higher. though not that high approximately 20 to 30 hp bump, the lighter body will increase performance more than the hp increase will lead us to believe.
and yes the side view mirrors will have a stalk that is coming from the door panel rather than the current position at the corner portion of the glass.
my opinions...

It will have a longer wheelbase [100mm (about 4") longer]. Its wheelbase will be longer than the Cayman's wheelbase. If you are a 911 fan to the core, draw your own conclusions.
Cosmetically, it will be have a taller more curved (a la VW Beetle) front hood, to comply with the EU pedestrian regs...

do we think that the 911 is still the cash cow? imo this is not true anymore. though of course we are stillin the 997 page, i think the panamera has clearly contirubted to Porsches revenues.. the pics release are decoys. porsche knows how to hide its products. Pnamera lights will describe the front. take a look at all the other products...

This is not about how Porsche wants the car to look - its about how the environmental and safety regulations dicate is HAS TO look. Its got to get bigger to move into an EPA class that has looser MPG regulations, and the nose has to change to comply with these insane EU pedestrian impact regulations. And add to that - the base car can't get the 3.6.

I hate to say it but I bet they change the headlights.
They strayed from round before - they will stray again to try to buzz into the "trendy hep groove" of [hideous] car styling.
Something like this on the Carrera! OMG!

You don't know Porsche. They learned that lesson--and won't repeat it.

Unlikely but possible: Replacing both the coupe and the cab with a new hard top cab based on the patent application that surfaced about a year ago (not sure exactly when.)
