Default Sad day...

Walk out to go run into town and see my 2014 turbo has been victim of a hit and run . Of course the scumbag didn't leave a note . Sigh, this was my first Porsche / first nice car ,I've always had a truck for work. Definitely let out a few 4 letter words when I saw the damage.driver side front fender , headlight and bumper all were damaged. Front fender door gap is messed up can't open driver door because fender is right up against the door .Ugh what a nightmare.I hope nobody else on here has to walk out and find their car smashed up.

I had been kicking around looking at some 2017 turbo S and gt3rs so I guess now I have a more valid reason to. Car isn't totaled ,but it damaged the front fender/light/bumper . So now I guess I gotta decide what route to go: keep car and modify it (gt3 bumper/vinyl wrap) since the car will need a bumper anyways and I had that ghost shield installed to protect the entire front end.Or trade in after repaired , sell it private party or just give the car to my younger brother . He is in love with the car. I was but now that it's been hit just feel like I may want to move onto something else.

Thanks nanook. It would've been much easier to deal with had I been messing around and lost control and hit something where I was at fault but when someone hits your parked car it definitely is a deflating feeling. Hopefully car won't be tied up too long at the paint/body place. I was actually gonna drops the car in my avatar off to get finished but I may hold off and drive it in the meantime .

I guess I could just take this as an opportunity to change up my turbo .
Been looking at some of the Porsches that have the paint to sample option, and definitely have seen some unique options. I like my rhodium silver more after blacking out the wheels and Windows but still kind of like colors that stand out more .

Damn sorry to hear that. It's a lot of time and drama after too. Hope you end up better than before. Good luck.

Thanks Sam. Once it gets bailed out I will setup a time to have a Kline catless put on it and probably the Cobb programmer as well. Tired of driving around sounding like a dyson vacuum lol .

I certainly feel your pain as I had the same thing although I got lucky: the person left a note and a phone number. Still, dealing with their insurance company and having to argue the case to get it repaired at a Porsche certified shop not their captive slap-dash repair place and then have their adjuster low ball the estimate...well it was a trail. But. All fixed now and the memory of all the annoyances is fading. Can't say enough good things about the place that did the work for me though -- kudos to Jeff Butler and team at Haury's in Seattle. They really helped walk me through it and supported my case all the way through.

Thanks Mark. Yeah , they were suggesting a place for paint and body .but i called the dealer and found out who they outsource all their paint/body work to. If it was my old work truck or somethin like that I wouldn't care as much, but for a Porsche or any other high end vehicle you want a reputable place doing the paint/bodywork.
I can't tell if my front bumper will be reuseable it isn't bad but it may be slightly tweaked from impact. Front fender is 100% that it will have to be replaced. Headlight on driver side too. If the bumper is shot I figure I may as well buy a gt3 bumper for the front since I prefer it much more over the turbo front bumper. I am also debating what to do with my wheels. I love them after they were painted black after I bought it but the paint just chips so easy from normal driving. I'm guessing they won't powder coat them due to the heat process involved?

What a shame. I know how sick you must feel.
Definitely insist that a Porsche dealer do the repair work.

Do dealers do body work repairs?? The one I work with doesn't. I found the list of certified body work shops here:

http://www.porschecollisioncenter.com/

Add your zip code to find one locally.

Ouch, feel for you buddy. No security cameras in the parking lot or anything?
Good luck, have a Porsche dealer or their outsource partners do it.

I was in your situation, 5 months after I bought my 2014 brand new. I was somewhat fortunate, because I saw the perpetrator do the damage. It didn't feel better to know who it was, because they didn't have insurance, or stick around to even let me be pissed at them.

I was driving along a suburban street at a nice 45 miles an hour, and out from the woods comes a deer running at full speed. She ran into the passenger side of my car at full tilt. I pulled over immediately, and jumped out to assess the damage, and caught a glimpse of her getting up, shaking off the impact, and run back into the same woods she came from. She was gone in seconds, and I was left to just stare at the damage to the front fender, passenger door, and rocker panel. I was just sick, because this car was pristine, and was like a close friend to me. How was this ever going to be OK?

Alright, get it fixed and dump it! Right?

I take it to the shop my dealer uses, the "Porsche specialist" in town. They take 6 weeks to get in the OEM replacement parts, get everything aligned, painted, polished, and ready to go. I pick it up, still not as excited about the car as I used to be, but whatever, gotta get it back. Now that it's not "perfect", I doubt it will be the same. Might as well try out the DE day coming up at VIR, since it's already been dinged.

Best thing that ever happened to me. I very quickly forgot the "not perfect" notion, and the car and I really became one on that track day. It was awesome. I was able to drive the car like it was designed, and really learned how seriously extraordinary and sublime the car is. I kept the car 2 more years, having long forgotten the damage and drama of the collision. I served me well for about 50 track days. The car can run with the best GT3, any older RS, any R8, and it's just a rockstar. I let it go last Fall for a 2017 Turbo S, same color, and it's increased capabilities leave no doubt that aside from the 918 and Cup cars, there is not Porsche that can keep up.

Long story, obviously, but it's a true case of taking a negative and making it a positive. Now you have a reason to dig deeper into the car, and without the fear of ruining the heritage of it. The drama and heartbreak will soon pass, and the heart of the car is still lying beneath the cosmetic damage, which can be fixed. Hang in there.

Sorry to hear about this, but it will be good as new when they're done. As to the GT3 bumper, I think the overhang is longer than the Turbo's, so before you pull the trigger, decide if it will bother you to have reduced ability to negotiate driveways and speed bumps. I use my Turbo as a DD, so it would bother me a lot, despite really liking the GT3 bumper.

That totally, completely sucks. If that happened to mine, I'd be seriously bent.

Check-in to if the body shop you're going to is certified by Porsche.

Check out this thread for why:

And, somewhere in there is a link to a list of certified shops.

I just want to say thanks for all the kind words . I feel for those of you who've been through their car being damaged when it wasn't in their control. Back when I was around 19 I had a beautiful 1964 Chevelle hardtop . Some guy in an expedition speeding while on the phone rear ended me going about 40 with no braking while I was waiting to pull into a gas station. It put my back bumper almost to the top edge of the trunk lid. Luckily I wasn't hurt but I knew before I opened my door the car was totaled . He hit me so hard it broke part of my steering wheel and snapped the front of the bench seat out of the floor! The jackass then proceeds once I get out to tell me hey don't call the cops.......

I read the thread about that rear bumper job, thank you for posting the link to it. Not gonna lie I'm kinda scared if they will find any noticeable damage on my car underneath. Because that rear bumper didn't look too bad but had significant damage underneath . I did the search and luckily there is a Porsche approved place close to me .My car will be going there.

So now I think the big decision will be whether I just keep it and mod it . Or work with a dealer my brother knows to work out a deal to move my car for a 2017 turbo S .

I'm really struggling with which route to go once the repairs are completed. I've ALWAYS modded my previous cars aesthetically and for performance as well. My current turbo is a certified pre owned which I extended the warranty.
