I GIVE UP, REPLACE PCCBs WITH STEEL

What other method would you suggest?

I understand the skepticism regarding the Porsche testing method, but I was never comfortable with the PCCB's while driving the car. The brittleness and cost of replacement had me looking for a steel conversion before I'd even bought it. The brake feel also made me a little apprehensive. The conversion now makes my turbo's brakes feel more familiar to me. And I love these pads. I had them on another vehicle and I determined that I'd put up with the cost for them because they were actually worth it....I don't know what my other choice would be, maybe Endless ME20s or stock GT3 pads?
Also, I forgot that one potential reason for my difficulties, and don't laugh too hard, is that I forgot my regular driving shoes and had on my Rod Lavers which probably didn't help my cause too much...

I happen to love my PCCBs but I don't really track my car. But when they go there's no way I'm spending 25,000 bucks for new ones. Not for brakes. Their are much better things in life to spend that much money on. They will be replaced with Girodiscs when that day comes. I don't ever imagine selling the car so it really doesn't matter to me what brakes I have on in terms of resale value.

My dealer has NEVER replaced a PCCB rotor due to wear, and there are a lot of track guys here near VIR.

The big seller for Girodisk is that it's a direct swap for the PCCB rotors. Just swap rotors, install pads for steel in the existing calipers, and go crush everyone. Simple as that.

46k in those conditions actually sounds pretty damn good! I can't get 20k out of the brakes on my Mercedes GL63 SUV!! I calculated it...I spend 9 cents per mile, every mile, on brakes for that SUV! (Except for that, best DD and tow vehicle I've ever had)
Anyway, Karl, I'm still very curious how they determined they were shot. I want to be on the lookout, and my dealer is pretty good, but I always feel like I know more about this PCCB stuff than they do and would like to learn from your decision to swap over.

the weight **** up the brake so hard

We're on our third GL and they go through brakes fast. The weight is a big culprit but the stability control is the bigger culprit and eat up the rear inside pads faster than the other pads. I just replaced the rear brakes at 22,000 miles. The front pads probably have another 5-7k miles left. This will be our last GL since we no longer need a 7 seater. Good excuse to perhaps to look for a Cayenne S.

My car is at 15,000 miles. I drove like I stole it almost everyday.
It turns like a grandma, the power feels good.
With only 4 members in the family, i felt stupid to get the gl63.(already had a cayenne)

You've got the GL63, which is a monster of SUV so I'd drive it like I stole it too if we had one. We have a GL450, which is my wife's DD and used for her soccer mom duties. I think she's ready for something a little more nimble.
