Default $510 for an oil change

Called dealer closest to me, not the dealer I bought my car from since they couldn't even get a '15 turbo S Cab allocation. The local dealer quoted me $510 just to do an oil change. Guess what I'll be learning what to do myself??

Thanks a lot Grandlaker...... I just cancelled my 2015 TTS order!!!!

(ok, just kidding -- but sheesh! I'm told it should be $300 for an oil change).

Find a reputable local indy dealer that specializes in P-cars, I just got mine done for less than $200 at my local race shop.

My closest DFW dealer charged $212 for an oil change and $515 for the 20k service which included oil change and several other things. That was for my 991S, don't know what will be different for my new TTS. I don't do anything myself, so I have so far stuck with the dealership. For 2 calendar years, I paid $727 maintenance and for my gas, which to me is reasonable.

Sure-it was Autobahn in Fort Worth. I have been very happy with their service department. I will be giving Park Place a try for my new TTS, but I won't hesitate to switch back if they don't live up to their Premier reputation.

Man that place (Park Place) looks like amazing. I have been back in that service area twice now and it's impressive as all get out. If Roger Beasley here in Austin doesn't seem too great with the service, i will just drive up to Dallas and stay overnight with my daughter for the service intervals.

I am not a DIY guy either. Did you get any out of interval oil changes? I did one on my M5 at the dealer with another service and they charged me $92.

I tried to wait until 10k for my first oil change but was too neurotic about it and went at 7,500, 15k and then the 20k service. I know, I know, I didn't really need to but I guess I am jaded from my muscle car days and I start getting nervous after 5k miles. I will try my best to follow the recommended 1 year or 10 k on the new turbo.

I wouldn't leave the oil for 10K no matter what they tell you. 7500 is plenty.
You did good IMO.

I can understand having the coin to justify paying someone else's husband to change the oil, but its such an easy task and in doing so gives one a little better perspective on how the car works. I always change my own oil and it ends up costing no more than $80 and about an hour if I milk it. To each his own tho

The manual doesn't say anything about an oil change prior to 20k miles, does it?

Does anyone have a link to a DIY 991 TT/S oil change procedure?

Pics of removing the fans, not a turbo but I assume it's the same procedure:
https://rennlist.com/forums/991/7000...il-change.html

Then this:
http://www.6speedonline.com/forums/9...-911-991s.html

I tried to find a youtube video but only found last generation 911 which is much easier since that model you didn't have to mess with removing the fans. Looks like popping those fans out is pretty simple however, just unplug the power to each fan because apparently they can come on at odd times.

It's easy to do, but I don't mind throwing the dealer a bone, could payoff if you ever have a warranty issue down the line. One of the things they note is if you have a history of regular service. Just sayin'.
