They say this is the second engine failure in track? I wonder if the second one was the White car that also got damage at the track. That car had burn marks around the same area. Just a thought. There can't be more than 4-500 units of GT3RS delivered worldwide now surely. I wonder if they will run a stop sale recall....

The 4.0L has a longer stroke and so lowering the redline 200 rpm just keeps piston speeds about the same - if they were trying to mitigate an issue with the GT3's piston speeds, they would need to lower further.

what's troubling is why failure didn't occur in testing. but as soon as released, issues arise.

But there's a reason Porsche lowered the redline in the RS to 8800.
And I don't think it's because they're suddenly superstitious Chinese numerologists who believe "8" is a lucky number.
But I could very well be wrong. And I probably am.

this is why i don't buy a first year anything. let problems rear their head with the first batch of owners and buy the 2nd model year.
e46 m3 - rod bearing, rear subframe
nissan gtr - tranny issues with launching
c7 z06 - heat soak issues
991 gt3- we know that story
ferrari 458 - wheel arches catching fire
918 - control arm recall
I will say that porsche has handled these issues the best. BMW and Nissan pretty much told people to f*ck off until the forums made a class action law suit.

RS engine failure
As i understod it: this car have had one engine replaced at 480km. Then the replacement EM-final caught fire at 1600 km.
I'm gonna do the 3000km break-in with my car...
