I posted a thread a couple of days ago about driving the GT4 at Barber Motorsports Park during the PSDS. It's a fast and fun car, but there's absolutely no way I would trade my GT3 for one, regardless of the monetary difference. The GT4 feels fast, but GT3 feels faster AND more special. The GT4 is a step down; there's just no other way to describe it. IMHO, of course.

Wait.
No need for rush judgments.
Come 1Q2016 there will be a whole new tranche of GT4 allocations to US dealers.
At that time, everyone that wants one will get one, maybe even two. And there will be room to negotiate (read: below MSRP).
So drive and enjoy your GT3 for another 5 or 6 months. Come winter of 2016, if the GT4 itch still hasn't been scratched then by all means get a GT4.
Cheers

Have not driven the GT4, so I really can't voice an opinion comparing the two but I trust what Mike says when he had his experience. I'II just say, stick with the 3.

I just did the change myself. Just wanna drive the manual. Don't care about how much faster I can have with pdk. I have been reading about GT4 almost everyday before delivery date in Nov....I know it is slower than a GT3, but hey, it's just a second slower in straight line...who cares, it's all about hugging the curves that matters to me. But having said that, will do keep GT3 and GT4 together if pocket is deep enough. Threesome is always good.
I just got an allocation for a GT4. I put myself on a list last year and my name came up. I have 991 GT3 with LWBS and I love it. She is crazy fast. I really have no complaints. I'm not as lucky as a few of you who can afford to have both.
Some comparisons to the 987 Cayman S I drove before switching to the GT3- The engine feels so far away, even at 9000K the cabin noise feels muted compared to my Cayman. The ride feels soft compared to my Cayman. GT3 feels much bigger, not quite as nimble or balanced (maybe that's just the driver getting used to rear engine layout). Some days I miss the manual; other days sitting in traffic I'm glad I have the PDK S.
Some might think I'm crazy to consider the switch; I'm wondering the same. I guess my thoughts are if I can have 90% of the fun and at third of the cost I should consider it.

Haven't driven a GT4. I plan to trade my 1-3 in for one when/if I get allocation. I miss shifting. Will track some and want more involvement. Speed is great but is beginning to get beyond what I want to go. Cant believe I just typed that. LOL. Really not interested dealing with center locks either. Sure I will miss some things but if I miss one too much I'll sell the 4 and go back to a 3. I don't think you are crazy.

oh, by the way, I pocket changed a 2016 macan s for my wife. GT3 = GT4 + Macan S. In my book, very nice!! I now understand why Macan is always sold out too. It hugs curvy freeway so well too!!

I've owned the GT3 for 1.5 years and GT4 for 10 days now. There is no way I would ever sell GT3 over GT4. I understand people wanting manual transmission, but you are going to miss the 9,000 rpm engine + PDK-S a lot more if you sell your GT3. But ideally, you want to keep both.
