Default Mustang 350R claims track times close to the GT3

Pretty impressive. GT3 is still on my wish list but Ford is making some nice cars. Article and a video below. Would be a fun track car.

Well @harrismonkey likes it, so it's good enough for me.

In all seriousness, I would rather have a GT350R over a Cayman GT4.

It will be interesting to see Chris Harris get his hands on one. Love his reviews

Chris Harris has not reviewed it. That's a regular mustang. the only thing it shares with the Shelby are headlights (which sit 2 inches lower on the Shelby due to the revised body). Entirely different vehicle. Your GT3 will run circles around that car.

The Shelby is said to have matched 991 GT3 lap times and beaten the Z28 and Z51 Stingray.

Just ask McLaren. They'll confirm it.

Guys I have passed numerous 997 GT3's and 991 PDK Carreras on the track in a stock Boss 302 with a live axle on a 10 year old chassis. I don't think the Shelby is going to have much trouble.

I hate to admit it but I'm interested in the R. It will be interesting to see the fit, finish and reliability when these cars are widely available.

And I am ashamed to admit being passed a year ago at road Atlanta by a garden variety mustang gt. but that because I was (still am) a novice and still learning to push the car. My point is that the driver makes all the difference.

So Ford views the GT3 as the benchmark? I get that.

Have shared the track with Mustang GTs, Boss 302s, Shelbys and they are quick with a good driver. Look forward to seeing the new 350/R on track.

I wonder about the durability of the carbon wheels on track. What happens when you ding one?

As an aside, what is interesting is that Harris mentions a few times in the video how big the mustang is, but i am sure it is similar in size the the gt3...

Yeah, but that's cuz you're an awesome driver.
