991 GT3 brake issues
Anyone else had problems with standard brakes? Total mileage 2,500. Being told that front brakes wrecked and need both rotors and calipers. Jaw dropping quote to replace. Dealer blaming damage on track driving. They checked brakes 3 months ago at 1,750 miles and everything was fine.
Porsche brakes normally very good. Have to think I got a duff set of brakes. Am I alone?

Agreed. Run quickly away from the dealer. They will price gouge you anyway. It's possible if you drove on the track that you did something like glaze the pads and then put a bad wear pattern on the rotors. Pretty unlikely it happened at all 4 corners though. I've had that happen on the fronts. That said, usually a new set of aggressive front pads (like Ferodo or PFC) will grind the rotor back in to shape.
Also, it's pretty much impossible for you to have wrecked the calipers. The dust boots, sure, but not the whole caliper. There are sources for new dust boots on my gear thread, but you can also search the forum. Maybe because there is no rebuild kit they just want to replace the entire caliper? Silliness.

Is the Dealer claiming this is a non-warranty item because of track driving/abuse or will it be covered by warranty? I hope it is the latter ... also interested to hear why the calipers and discs are (went) bad. Very atypical to say the least.

I'd find it hard to believe that you were able to destroy a caliper. I'm not a fan of the aluminum bridged monoblock. It would be much stronger with bolts and easier to maintain. The ceramic insulators on the pucks and seal rings might be bad but surely not the whole caliper. I turned a set of Big Reds to a dull magenta on my RSA. Rebuilt them and they were fine.
Photos would help. Can you get any?

How much track driving are you talking about? If it was 750 miles on track, by my calculation that could be as much as nine hours at speed and way too long to go without servicing brakes. If it was a couple of sessions then I'd be surprised to see significant brake damage or wear. I will say that if you want to drive much on track, you really should either have support at the track or get sufficiently proficient to at least do your own brake bleeding and pad changes

I can't imagine 2,500 miles even if it was all on the track would damage the calipers and rotors such that they need to be replaced.
Do you have PCCBs or iron rotors?

Take a look at this write up from Brembo as they installed them on my car over 2 months ago.....

I don't know about you, but I have never driven any car at speed on track for 25 hours without changing pads at least, and for heavier, higher power cars, multiple pad and rotor changes.
The OP did not indicate how much of the 750 miles was on track, but if it was somehow all track, I know I could have destroyed my brakes, as in backing plates hard against rotors and collateral damage of dust boots burned up and perhaps even pistons damaged by getting so far out of bore they **** and gall up.
Hence my query above.
And from my preliminary experience with my 991 GT3 I am not sure I could get through even a single weekend DE without some brake service and I would definitely bring spare pads and fluid just in case. I have some pretty noticeable brake wear from 2 30 min sessions.
