Default Anybody lowered the 991 GT3 1/2"

I wanted to see if anyone has lowered their 991 GT3 1/2" on factory coil overs? I want the car to sit a bit lower and I have the suspension lifter so I should be fine on clearance. My local Porsche certified shop/tech says it is not a big deal to drop it 1/2" but wanted to check here.

Is a new alignment necessary if only a 1/2" drop.

Thanks!

The car is already really low. I haven't heard of too many people lowering it even more. I would get an alignment if you lower it though.

You won't have any problems. I would get an alignment after lowering the car though.

Keep in mind that the coilovers are adjustable in order to allow for corner balancing. They aren't there to adjust 'stance'. You are likely affecting the handling of the car in an adverse way, if that matters to you.

I can't imagine lowering the car. I already tore up some stuff dropping two wheels on track.

If you drop it 1/2" you should align the car. As Joe suggested the small change in height available at each corner allows for corner weighting. If you do drop it you might find it useful to look at the corner weights and alignment both before and after.

Yes, I lowered mine just over 1/2" ….its almost at the limit for factory coil overs when you have the front lift. Work performed at P dealer….with an alignment.

Even though its a small drop I love the way it looks now!

*incidentally my car is white with PCCB's as well.

Curious, what did your Porsche dealer charge to lower and align?

Brandon, Do you have any pictures you could post of your car with the drop? Did you stick with factory specs on the alignment? Thanks

TechArt's lift system might be a better solution for it lift's the car higher than the OEM solution. Lowering the car a Half Inch means that the front lift doesn't lift the car half an inch higher than it use to. So one may run into problems with that whole idea.

I'm happy to take a few pics this week/weekend...sorry I haven't taken any yet.

I didn't ask that specific question regarding the alignment, but I can call my tech if you'd like(?)

Brandon, that would be helpful and much appreciated if you would not mind asking the tech what alignment spec he used?, I would assume factory settings... I have been told an alignment is needed and no alignment needed by 2 different qualified Porsche techs for 1/2" drop, go figure. I would certainly think a alignment would be money well spent to make sure everything is on point.

Does the car feel as if it bottoms out on bumps and heavy braking or does the car feel the same? I certainly don't want to have adverse effects to the handling of the car.
