If the drivetrain proves reliable as-is, the purchase price is reasonable enough that having to upgrade brakes or suspension wouldn't be too onerous.

BTW, click on the Mosport video on the linked page.
Pretty sure the OEM brakes are up to the task. Suspension is personal for each individual, I do know the GT with track pack handles pretty darn good out of the box, but it does need camber in the front.

Yep, you guys can rest assured Ford plans to monetize this engine and recoup their investment along with a healthy profit. This will not be a "limited" production run for sure.

I can't wait to see them on the track. I probably won't buy one as the GT4 and ZR1 should cover my track day bases well, but I'm excited Ford is building this car and the R variant.

Agreed. Chassis 001 will always be worth a fortune. Everything built after - unlikely - especially once the car has been in production for a few years.

One thing about Ford though...they back their track cars. I broke my flywheel one of my track sessions (my fault) trans became overheated on the last session of a 2 day event at Road Atlanta. Instead of going into the pits to cool off I tried to force a shift after experiencing lockout. Showed up to Ford the following Monday told them what I did. They ordered and installed a new clutch and flywheel under warranty all replaced no questions asked.
"Blesseded Be" for that is a good department and you very lucky. I know of some Ford Services Cebter's, here in California, that would still try to wiggle their way out of covering that one - especially after your explanation. "Oh you did it on the track? Sorry buddy we're Spineless and won't cover it!

You got yourself a damn good shop there!

Actually that service department is nothing special, just doing their job. Ford markets the Boss302 as a track car and backs their product. I expect nothing less from any automaker who sells a "track ready" sports car.

On a sidenote who here has heard the Shelby GT350 in person? What's it like? I would love to see one in person...

Configurator is up on Ford site. So, I built one and at the end there was a button to click for a test ride. So, I did, and local sales rep called me this morning: "Hi, thanks for your interest in the Shelby. We had one allocation, and we sold it for $12K over MSRP. I'll let you know if that sale falls through." I replied, do you have any R's allocated? Response, don't know. Also asked when it would be arriving - didnt know that either.

I know the owner of the dealership, which may have gotten me somewhere had I acted sooner. But, when they're going to make plently of MY 2016s, not worth the BS.

like many others on here probably, got to see it run at Laguna seca. it doesn't make a ferrari howl, but it's not exactly american v8 either.. it's like a high strung american v8 sound... tight but still very bassy. the car in person looks quite special actually.. it's more than a souped up mustang. driver who was doing laps in it said it's very neutral, no push, calm transition to power oversteer.. super balanced. i was hooked.

For anyone who does have one coming, I am looking for one to do some development on. Please shoot me a PM if you or someone you know is interested in a discounted exhaust!

Your description is accurate based off the last week's published videos. It's sort of a mix of exotic and old school American muscle sound. In fact it reminds me a lot of the Aston Martin V12 based off the latest videos.

I really like this car but it's size (width 75.4 in (1,916 mm)) is too big for my liking.
