2016 GT3 RS
Hello everyone,
I am being asked to pay over sticker for a 2016 GT3 RS. Its about five 10s over. I am undecided due to uncertainty about the future pricing of these specialty cars. I am also looking to sell by December 2015. Thoughts please, thank you.

Do not pay $50k Over.
Even if you sell in December you will lose. By then, another round of allocations will be announced. Even if you wanted one now I bet you couldn't get it delivered until sept at earliest so a couple months for $50k over is absurd.
If you really really wanted one, msrp or 10k over at most right now is what I would pay. Be prepared to lose 10-20k when you sell in December though.
It's your money, I can't tell you what to do.

Why on earth would you pay $50k over MSRP for a car, drive it for 60 days and then try to sell it? i believe this RS will hold its value very well, but you'll lose $30k at least in such short order. That equates to $500 / day lost.

If you can take delivery now or within 2 weeks and have money to burn I would say 20K-30K over MSRP sounds fair. 918 cars should start delivery in July. Regular customer around October Novermber. There will be some cars for you to choose by the end of year. Don't sell it in December. There will be RS for sell around then and if porsche release more allocation I guess the market is around MSRP.

No one knows for sure if there will be additional allocations. Even if there is you probably can't get one unless you have a relationship. There are far more GT3s and they bring 10 to 15 over.
If you can afford it and want it buy it.

Ask yourself this.
How much is the dealer asking over MSRP, after some serious negotiations/haggling on your part (and his/her part).
Then take that aggregate number -- i.e., MSRP + Premium -- and ask yourself whether spending that amount of money on a car will make you enjoy the car less than if you paid MSRP for it.
Especially, if part of the "enjoyment" factors into the "now and present". That is, you get to have, drive, and enjoy the RS now (or as soon as US deliveries take place), as opposed to 6 months from now, or 2 years from now, or whatever X time from now.
I'll give you a very pedantic example to illustrate what I'm talking about.
MSRP for a can of soda is, let's say, $1.
If I was thirsty, and someone offered me that same can of soda for $1.10. I'd buy it, enjoy the cola, and be completely ok with the fact that I might be enjoying my kiddie beverage next to some guy who paid for the same exact kiddie drink for 0.10 less.
And if I was thirsty, hot, and in a crowded football stadium, and someone offered to sell me that same can of soda for $2, I'd buy it just the same. And for the very same reasons stated above.
But if I wasn't thirsty, and paid $1.01 for that can of soda, and waited until it was warm before imbibing, I'd certainly enjoy it much less for the very reason that I paid 0.01 more than retail for it.
In other words, it all sort of depends on how much the premium means to you (i.e., how much disposable income you have or will have) and how much it means to you to have the RS now, or as soon as deliveries begin in the US.
No one here can answer that question, and the related one, for you.
Those that categorically say "never pay over MSRP" are either devoted to an Augustinian lifestyle (and enjoy telling others to adopt the same ascetic), or are stretching beyond their means to be buying essentially adult toys.
Your call, US1368.
Good luck.

Warren Buffett drives a Lincoln (:- Enjoy life have fun, but personally I can buy any car and I will not pay over. Just a value principal for me to blow what someone may make in a year or two. However each to his own.

$50k over might look like a bargain if there are no more allocations to come. Many of us have been waiting a month now since our orders were changed to PTS for a production date, there is the UV date uncertainty, the LWB issue etc. PAG supposedly made $0 margin on each 997 4.0 delivered and who knows if they're making enough on these to want to keep pushing them out in light of all of the logistics and manufacturing problems they're clearly having.
