OT: 458 Speciale vs. Italia
#16
Besides the obvious HP difference and stripped down, lightened Speciale, how does the Italia compare as a predominantly street use car with occasional track days ? TIA....
I'm looking at a '14 Italia in Nero...900+ miles. How's the listed price ?
What is a reasonable offer trading my GT3 in with under 1000 miles ?

Performance difference between speciale and Italia is between 5-10%. But the Italia looks more luxurious and many would say sounds better. Speciale is the ultimate track car if that is your main criteria.
No differences between 14 & 15 model year.
The car does attract the maximum amount of attention and photography from the public. I don't like that but a price you have to pay to own one.
ps: my original tires were the michelins but once worn out I put trofeo Rs on it. The grip with those is endless.

That's a lot for that car....I haven't driven the Speciale so I can't compare but the 458 is an incredible machine....they have a lot of money to move on that car.....

I agree, probably a $240-$250 car IMO. It does have A LOT of options though. The wheels, seats, full carbon interior etc $$$$

Initially I see $33K in options....$10K for the wheels and seats each, $13K for the carbon and steering wheel.....other than that I see no other CF interior....there's also the parking sensors front and back, rear cam, stitching, shields, calipers....I bet its an MSRP of $290-300.....

for sure the h3000v could have done the job.....
enjoy!
the italia can cruise very quietly if one wishes.
not sure if the speciale can do that trick at all.

I had a 2011 Italia...kept it for over a year.
If I were you - I would spend some time in one before buying it. At first it's fun, cool looking, etc...but after a while it wears off, and you want something different.
It attracts tons of attention, is a little too video game like to drive, and definitely not a good daily driver. The car hates to go slow, and is pretty miserable to drive and obey the laws.
All that being said...if you have to own one - I would buy an older model that has depreciated substantially- - and try not to lose a lot in the year or so you keep yours.

^Yes, I own one and we aren't too far away from $125-150k value levels soon so I'd wait at this point as future fun to value factor of 458 will be much higher over next couple years. 458 is a great Ferrari imo and has been the most reliable yet in my stable vs several others I have. If you get tired of cars in general then 458 will be no different than any other car and after some time they all get boring?

I know...just received my 1/18 scale LO model today. I love the color. I am still having issues removing the 458 from my thought process....I will be speaking to my dealers GM to get a better handle on an RS allocation or not. If I have to wait the entire summer to find out one way or the other I may go Italy....or I will just STFU and be happy I have a GT3 just the way I want it.

I can swing it...I also have major Porsche guilt. I suppose I could buy it and trade in my GT3 and keep my request for an RS build and if granted 9 mos from now, figure out what to do then. I can't do both cars for various reasons. This is the last NA Ferrari...I may regret missing out.
