Default At the factory on Friday

I was on the P factory tour on Friday and FWIW saw a GT3 and an RS on the production line. Was told the gt3 would have been ordered 3 months ago.

There is no separate production line for these cars, all components get tested as they are installed, very few cars get hot tested, the engines are NOT pre run-in.

I'm jealous. I love visiting that place; I'm sure you had a great time.

We were told the same thing about hot testing and run in during our visit last year so the info coming from the factory is consistent. I don't know why some dealers keep propagating incorrect info about that. The 2014 replacement engines were all run in hot for at least 1/2 hour as part of the enhanced testing process around the recall, but that was an exception. As you point out, normally only a tiny fraction of sample engines are run hot for quality control testing purposes.

+1

When we did the tour the fall of `13, we were told that 2-3% of engines were hot tested. No road tests either. The cold test is still interesting that they can measure everything to make sure the motor is in spec.

I did and it was sitting outside all wrapped ready to be shipped. It had US style buckets. Didn't have any means to photo.

Arena red is really quite different to Guards.

Imo, it wasn't as bright and striking as GR. If you can imagine red with a tint of orange and a bit duller. Bear in mind that the car I saw had the white plastic wrap on the hood etc and was dirty as it was outside waiting to be transported.

My impression... it's very subjective but I would go for guards if there was a choice. Having stated that, I would be perfectly happy with arena if no other red was available.

Overall, the car I saw was terrific looking and everyone in our small group admired it.

It was in its final steps and just had the wheels put on. It was black with red calipers.

It's one of the pre configured PTS Arena Reds with standard seats. I have back issues and I wouldn't option LWB even is I was able.

I'm afraid not. They ask you to leave phones and cameras at the museum prior to crossing over to the factory. It's there that the car was parked and ready to be transported.
