Gaining interest in Sport bucket seats
We are in the process putting together an order for Sport Bucket seats with Porsche. For the moment we will assume they will be priced around the same as the current 997 Sport Buckets.
For serious inquiries send us a PM or an email at parts@suncoastparts.com

The price point will be the key. At something in the neighborhood of the previous GT2 folding buckets I'd definitely be interested.
Suncoast, if you don't mind saying, does this mean the seats will generally be available or is this a special one-off that Suncoast is hoping to do with Porsche?

Expect in the 9k range for non CF GT2 seats and $18k for the CF 918 non folding lightweight buckets.

I'd be interested in the 991 GT3 seats. I missed them by 3 weeks on my build. Would they have the embroidered GT3 on the head rest and coloured stitching?
I can't see them being $18k. If they were that expensive Porsche would charge way more than $5k for the option. At $18k it would be cheaper to buy a new GT3 and sell the old one.

Gauging Interest?
I think you guys at Suncoast meant to say 'gauging interest'...
not 'gaining interest'.
Just about everybody has interest...now it's just a question of
at what price and retrofitting the seat correctly on a 991 or 981
to make sure the thorax airbags work as designed in case of
an accident!
On a slightly different topic, but quite relevant to this conversation,
I want to ask you about the possibility of fitting a folding gt2-type
.2 997 sport bucket seat to a 991 or 981.
Two years ago, when asked, Suncoast was discouraging anyone from
buying one of your gt2-type .2 997 sport bucket seat and installing it
on a 991 (see email received below).
Have you at Suncoast evolved from that position?
Do you at Suncoast believe that today a gt2-type .2 997
sport bucket seat can be fitted to work 100%
(airbags, passenger seat weight sensor, etc)
on a 991 or 981?
Some on this forum believe it can be done and
made to work correctly!

to me
Eduardo,
The Carrera GT seat has completely different parts, top to bottom.
There might be some hardware pieces which are the same, but
for sure........the seat, cushions, frame, leather, mounting hardware
are different.
We tested the 997 GT2 bucket seat into a 991, the wiring was
incredibly different. Once we saw that, we decided not to investigate
any further. I don't have specifics on this, but we made a wise
decision to walk away, and not attempt to modify any wiring.
We didn't check the mounting points to see if they were compatible.
So again, my professional opinion is that it's not possible to install
the 997 seats in a 991/981. I'm sure people will try, maybe it could
be done with wiring modifications or PIWIS. I can't help with that
sort of retrofit.
I haven't heard anything official on the new sport bucket seats, but
if Porsche won't ship a car to the USA with the seats installed, they
probably won't allow us to order them. At the moment there are
no retrofit seats, so I can't get a plug-and-play seat at the moment
anyway. Building the seat, piece-by-piece wouldn't be possible for
us, that's not something I can help with. If someone is interested
in these seats, all we can do is wait and see if Porsche releases
them in the future.
Keep in mind, the 997 model was launched in 2004/2005, the
GT2 seat didn't appear until 2008. So that was three years
into production before the retrofit was available, and three
years until it was an option for US models.
Let me know if you have any other questions, thanks again!

We're referring to factory 991 seats, not 997. The photo was for reference only. We still do not recommend fitting 997 seats in a 991.
Please excuse our typo, sorry about that. We realize that price is critical. Fingers crossed, they will be available by the Summer. Stay tuned, thanks for the feedback.

I certainly have an interest but not at $10k+.

Porsche dealers in the US should all have availability by this summer for the OEM 991 GT3 LWB.
No idea on pricing, Mike, but I would contact your local Porsche parts dealers and ask to be contacted once they become available from PAG.
Otherwise, Jesse South at Sunset Porsche [email: jessesouth@sunsetimports.com ] is my go-to for OEM parts when ordering from a Porsche dealer. (He also helped with the front lip spoiler group buy, which is still going on ...). FWIW, I've always found Sunset's pricing to be generally better (i.e., lower) than Suncoast. No connection here, just passing along info.
Good luck.
