Posted this on the max RS price thread but applies here.

The 4.0 was $50k more than 3.8RS.
It wasn't worth it for driving on the street, but it pulled smoother and the car felt better on its suspension.

It wasn't worth it for the 2 seconds a lap on track, but it pulled so nice and smooth. When I got in the 3.8RS it was the same fun, yet it just wouldn't "go".

I couldn't afford a 3.8RS certainly not a 4.0 at msrp and it had to go after they started to go nuts. Should have kept it if course as a smart investment but I rather go to the track with a replaceable car. I would have HD to park 4.0 instead I bought 3 cheap cars to enjoy.

I enjoyed the 4.0 every time I drove it and it was usually daily.

Now the same with the RS. Worth it?
Dunno, probably can't tell the difference till you get in a GT3.
Pretty sure I'm going to enjoy it, life is short might as well live it.

Should it go up again, I can't afford to keep over $250.
I kinda hope it just drops straight to $150 off the lot so I'll be stuck with it LOL

In all honesty, for me, it's all about experiencing the ultimate expression of the 911 family. (Streetable) It is that simple. It will be a DD during the summer and a track toy about 10 times a year.

I may or may not get more out of the RS on the track but I will know that it's simply up to me to develop my skills in order to extract more... And that's exciting.

in design school we call it post design rationalization. tell me which car u want, I will persuade u that's the one to get. trust me, I'm THAT good. street ability, track use, finances.... whatever... none of which is true.

u think addicts not know drug is bad?
u think ur wife really need 100 purses, 50 pairs of shoes, all those bling jewelry and sk2 really make them look younger... haha...

if u dont like how it feel, masterbate again and buy the other one.
eventually u will run out of Viagra and settle on something.

Your sat at the traffic lights in your car and a 991RS pulls up beside you. You look across and realise "*** it I should have got it."

If u keep masterbating ur a w----r; go get it and be a cool ******. U know it makes sense.

I think the issue one faces is can one really afford it? It's easy to get behind the GT3, as others have said, it seems a bargain for the price. The RS is a little bit more of everything than the GT3, but not much more. Its a lot more money though, and not really a bargain.

I'd love an RS, but it's not a good value like the GT3.

1. The entry price for the RS is greater than the 3 and so will the exit price. The RS will depreciate less so the cost of ownership may be less if you can stomach the entry price.

2. The RS is guaranteed to tickle your G spot. It will get much more attention and you will never want to leave it out of your sight.

3. The RS is more elusive and has proven to command higher prices in the collector's market. It's not that much more of a gem than the standard GT3, but it is the KING of the NA street legal Porsche, elusive, limited, and exciting to own. Get one if the entry price is not an issue and you can tolerate the attention and discipline.

If you can get a 991rs alocation and have the cash for it, just buy it. It's basically a 991gt3+! It can do anything that a 1.3 can do. Listen to sat radio, drink latte. drive in auto, adjust suspension to soft. But it will always be more special than the 1.3!

It will depreciate less than the 1.3 and to some it looks cooler. And if you don't want to drive it, it will more than likely be worth a lot of money in 20-30years.

IMO no car over about 16K is a bargain. It's just something you do if you can rationalize doing it.

45K to RS includes some freebee's like GT Silver ($3140), LWB ($4730) and CF package ($2420)
So if you's spec a GT Silver GT3 with buckets and CF it would be $140,690.00 VS $175, 900 or $35,210 difference.

Just rationalizing

Too harsh on the road... That depends on you. Personally I like a stiff car on the road. Heck, I have now 1 full day on the track in my 991 Cup car and I wish it was stiffer.

Race ready car... No way. You outta drive a 991 Cup car on the track. Other than shape you wouldn't think they were related.

Yes the RS is more money than the '3 but if you're concerned about your exit price, my guess is the RS will depreciate less than the '3.
