Default Reverse camera kit - best options out there?

Hi all,

Apologies for the potentially redundant thread, but I just wanted to confirm what the best "reverse camera kit" is out there for the GT3 nowadays.

Is the best option still the Nav-TV kit? My understanding is the simplest kit is:

Nav-TV "PCM3.1XG-CAM", $699, https://navtv.com/product/164/pcm3-1xg-cam.html
+
Nav-TV "Cam6 Top Mount Super-Low Light Backup Camera", $250, https://navtv.com/product/185/cam6-t...p-camera-.html

Is that correct? Please chime in if you think there are better options out there. Thanks!

I have the nav-tv one, and what I can tell you is it performers perfectly. The camera's video quality surpasses that of the factory unit! I had mine installed the same time as my muffler bypass since the bumper was coming off anyway.

I highly recommend this kit.

I have the CRUX interface module.
Works very well -- plug and play with PCM
Clear video which automatically pops up on NAV screen when car is placed in reverse.
Park assist lines are static (don't move with steering angle)

I have the Nav-TV one with the static lines. I use it every time I parallel park (which I try to avoid). I will back up into spaces and will find it useful on the paddock when I track mine in a few weeks.

I have a backup camera on my 997.1 GT3 for the same reasons. No regrets.

Have you checked to see if the Crux lines accurately represent the outline of the car if it were to drive backwards?

Same question to those with the Nav-TV units. My understanding is the lines aren't accurate and folks have generally been turning them off.

nav-tv is not accurate and you also cant see the outside edges of the car, afaik. i dont risk it.

using side mirrors and camera gives me everything i need to see though. its worth the money.

Nav-TV.

Works flawlessly.

I would suggest switching off the "line" option when it's installed. The lines are not dynamic, so they're basically useless.

Someone should setup a group buy with Nav-TV I'm sure we could get a bunch of people in on it.

My guess is that when it becomes mandatory (for 2016 US models?), the reverse camera will become available as a Porsche parts accessory and hopefully will be easy to retrofit to the GT3.

This was not the case with the 991 C2/C4.

The MY2015 OEM backup camera was not a retrofit option for the MY2014 C2/C4. Easy or otherwise.

Most folks seem to use Nav-TV so I was leaning towards that, but their kit was $699 + $250 for the camera = $949.

On the other hand, the CRUX RVCPR-66 documentation looks MUCH more professional. I suspect the main module electronics may actually be made by the same manufacturer? Anyhow, iCarKits.com has the CRUX module for $649 (which includes a camera module that looks identical to the camera Nav-TV recommends), plus they have a 10% off coupon for subscribing to their mailing list, so it was about $585 plus tax and shipping (!!). Hard to not jump on that...

I tested the lines and they are accurate as far as distance directly from the back of the car. What they don't do is mark sides of the car. The lines on the left or right do not correspond to the left and right fenders. As long as you realize that you are ok just don't give to a valet who might not realize that. For me a valet would never touch the car so not a concern.

I use the lines to make sure the car is straight
