Harris is an awkward guy. He's good solo because that's his calling card and has been since the beginning. Within a group setting, he comes across a bit ADD to me. His sense of humor almost requires another English chap who can be a foil to his jittery character. You put him behind the wheel and he comes across as a natural, but what carries a TV series is group engagement, not soliloquies. The best bits on TG are when the three make fun of each other and it feels genuine.

All good things come to an end. King dead. Long king.

me too. fifth gear is a better car show but top gear is better entertainment. the BBC had no choice but i hope the three find a new home somewhere else. like any long running show its sometimes hard to keep the material fresh but they still make me and my kids laughing.

Without getting into anything News Corp. If they were to take them onboard, it would be a tragedy!

Netflix would be better...for all concerned!

Sad to see it end

End of a great run for sure. Even if you don't like the guy it was pleasurable entertainment. I always seem to have 3 or 4 episodes unwatched at home and when I have an hour out of the entire week to watch something recorded I usually select one to watch.

I have 5th Gear on auto record on my DVR but haven't seen an episode record in a while. ? Are they in between seasons?

Harris has said before that anyone including himself would have to be crazy to go up against Clarkson on a TV show about cars in the UK. I think most recently on that Joe Rogan podcast. I agree about his onscreen style. He would have a difficult time fitting into a group setting TV show. Just like CYKBC said though once he gets into the drivers seat he has my full attention.

Can one of the UK guys explain BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, BBC4 etc? Does BBC own the rights to the show in which case without all three hosts they can continue the show name and format but with different hosts? That would be a waste of time and money in my opinion and it's clear all 3 will stick together.

What will happen is the highest bidder will put together a new show for the 3 of them and they will all make a lot of money.

I've always been a big TG fan, I think these three will be back and improve the show. Gives them time to change a few things and improve the show! For to be honest! It has kind of been the same for the last five years. Things happen for a reason! Hopefully Hammond understands that he can't run TG at BBC with a new crew and the three stay together.

As a side note, Clarkson was always a Porsche basher . He was more of a Mercedes guy whereas Hammond loved Porsches and 911s. May was more in the middle.

All 3 were the last " source " of information I would use when purchasing a car. The entertainment value was priceless though.
